Description
Caseworker provides supervision and support for guests as required by The Salvation Army and funding contract policies and procedures
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES :
- Represent and work within the mission, vision & values of The Salvation Army and Ridge Meadows Ministries
- Use a client-centered approach by consistently demonstrating compassion, respect and empathy
- Support, where and when possible, the efforts of all residents and co-workers
- Supports, advocates for and refers clients in helping empower them to become more self-sufficient, and help them re-integrate into the greater community.
- Develops and implements case management of assigned clients / residents; assists in establishing goals, monitoring progress, and prepares discharge plan
- Maintains and updates all appropriate documentation / case notes related to clients / residents and initiates any new documentation
- Monitors appropriate behaviour; intervenes in crisis situations, provides emotional support and advocacy as required
- Prepare / complete all reports required by the funder and The Salvation Army
- Liaises with Police, funders, court personnel, community agencies, families, and other staff members
- Perform other related duties as assigned

Education / Certifications :
Completed more than two (2) years of Community College and / or Diploma or Degree in social services fieldCurrent valid BC driver’s license and clean driving record an assetCPR, First Aid, Naloxone, and Non-Violent Crisis Training or obtain as condition of employmentSuccessful obtainment of clearance through the Criminal Records Review ProgramExperience :
Preference given to those who have prior related experience in social services environmentRequired Skills / Knowledge :
Effective communication skills, attentive listening, and alertness to reactions of clientsAdaptability to change and frequent interruptionsWillingness to work with people from diverse cultural backgroundsComputer and word processing abilityAbility to lift more than 10 kgs (22 pounds)PREFERRED SKILLS / CAPABILITIES :
