Job description

Northern Gateway Public Schools is inviting applications from accomplished, visionary leaders who are interested in joining Northern Gateway Public Schools in the following position : Assistant Principal at Percy Baxter School Effective the 202 4 2025 school year Reporting directly to the Principal, assistant principals are members of a team of skilled, committed, talented and progressive educators in an environment of site-based decision making. The Assistant Principal will have a part-time teaching assignment which will be determined based on education, experience and school programming needs.The Assistant Principalship to be filled, Percy Baxter School, is located in the town of Whitecourt. The school has a student population of 376. Current staffing at the school includes 18 FTE teaching positions and 8 support staff positions.The successful candidate will : have a valid Alberta Teaching Certificate work collegially and collaboratively with the Principal to embody visionary leadership work with the Principal, school staff, students and the school council to support community engagement that will foster a collaborative school vision via the School Advancement Plan and school culture support and cultivate teachers' application of the domains of the NGPS Quality Learning Environment (QLE) based on Inclusive Education practices, demonstrate a commitment to student achievement through a focus on curriculum-instruction-assessment and the Teaching Quality Standard have experience using and facilitating the application of a variety of technologies to support learning for all students demonstrate a commitment to student achievement through a focus on literacy and numeracy programming, support and intervention have experience working with First Nation, Metis and Inuit students and their families, and assisting staff members in their application of foundational knowledge about First Nation, Metis and Inuit demonstrate a commitment to student achievement and success through a focus on the Collaborative Team Meeting (CTM) process have successful elementary school teaching experience have school-based leadership experience work with school staff team to enhance staff wellness, and team development and spirit demonstrate outstanding communication and interpersonal skills and have a related Master Degree Preference will be given to applicants who have demonstrated excellence in the nine leadership competencies outlined in The Leadership Quality Standard : Fostering Effective Relationships Modeling Commitment to Professional Learning Embodying Visionary Leadership Leading a Learning Community Supporting the Application of Foundational Knowledge about First Nations, Metis and Inuit Providing Instructional Leadership Developing Leadership Capacity Managing School Operations and Resources Understanding and Responding to the larger Societal Context Please submit an electronic application a cover letter, curriculum vitae, statement of educational philosophy and names, positions and telephone contact information for three (3) recent professional references, by July 1, 2024, to : Leslee Jodry Deputy SuperintendentEmail : [email protected] : 780-778-2800 If shortlisted, applicants must bring to the interview a Release of Results of Vulnerable Sector Check that is current within three (3) months.We appreciate all applications, but we will only contact those applicants who are shortlisted.
