Remote Veeam Backup & Disaster Recovery Specialist (Part-Time)

100% Remote (Canada-based, preferably near Toronto for occasional optional visits

Employment Type: Part-Time (5-10 hours per week, multiple months)

Schedule: Flexible, with some weekend work required

About the Role:

We are seeking a certified Veeam expert to ensure the proper configuration, testing, and validation of our Veeam backup and disaster recovery (DR) infrastructure. You will play a key role in verifying installations, performing DR testing, restoring services from backups, and validating processes in a Windows (VMware) and Linux environment

Additionally, you will contribute to business continuity planning, ensuring existing DR measures function as intended. The ideal candidate has extensive experience designing non-disruptive DR tests (without virtual labs) and understands connectivity requirements between Veeam, SQL clusters, and Power Systems (Mimics).

Key Responsibilities:

✔ Validate and confirm correct Veeam installations

✔ Perform Disaster Recovery (DR) testing and service restorations from backups

✔ Develop and execute DR test scenarios without impacting production

✔ Ensure backup validation processes meet business continuity needs

✔ Work with Windows (VMware) and Linux systems

✔ Collaborate on business continuity plan testing

✔ Troubleshoot connectivity between Veeam, SQL clusters, and Power Systems (Mimics)

Requirements:

Veeam certification (mandatory) + proven expertise

Extensive Disaster Recovery (DR) design and testing experience

Ability to test DR without virtual labs

Strong knowledge of VMware, Windows, and Linux environments

Experience with SQL clusters and Power Systems (Mimics) connectivity

Strong problem-solving and validation skills

Availability for occasional weekend work
