Job description

About the Role

We are seeking Internationally Trained Physicians (ITP) with strong clinical knowledge and analytical skills to review patient charts and curate high-quality, relevant medical questions for specialist practitioners. This role is essential in ensuring that the medical inquiries presented to specialists are clinically appropriate, evidence-based, and enhance patient care.

This is a meaningful opportunity for ITPs who are not currently licensed to practice medicine in Canada but want to apply their medical expertise in a clinical support role within a collaborative virtual care environment.

Candidates must be based in Alberta, ideally in the Calgary area.

Key Responsibilities:

As part of our quality assurance process, you will assess patient records, extract key clinical details, and formulate precise questions that align with the case. Your expertise will help facilitate effective communication between primary care providers and specialists, improving efficiency and patient outcomes.

Preferred Areas of Specialty:

We are currently prioritizing candidates with clinical experience in any of the following areas of specialty:

  • Internal Medicine/Hematology

  • Mental Health/Psychiatry

  • Pediatrics

  • General Surgery

Applicants are asked to clearly state their medical specialty and the number of years practiced within their resume.

Required Qualifications & Experience:

  • Medical degree (MD, MBBS, or equivalent) from an accredited international institution. Provision of medical credentials will be required.

  • Prior experience in clinical practice, medical review, or quality assurance preferred.

  • Preference will be given to candidates with a defined area of specialty of practice; however, general practitioners with experience in a particular specialty area are encouraged to apply.

  • Demonstrated English language proficiency is required (e.g., CLB 7+ or equivalent or OET Medical with B score)

  • Familiarity with EMRs or healthcare systems; quick to learn new technologies. Familiarity with Netcare is an asset.

  • Confident using Microsoft Office (Teams, Excel, Word) and navigating multiple programs simultaneously.

  • Excellent written communication skills with the ability to craft clear, concise, and relevant medical questions.

  • Must be legally entitled to work in Canada.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in telemedicine or virtual care provision.

  • Familiarity with Canadian healthcare standards and specialist referral pathways.

  • Previous experience working or volunteering in a Canadian healthcare setting is an asset.
