THE ORGANIZATION

All Nations Trust Company (ANTCO) is an Indigenous Financial Institution that believes in the power of entrepreneurship to strengthen Indigenous communities. By providing business development solutions, guidance, and support, we help Indigenous entrepreneurs start, build and grow their business.

As a member of the ANTCO team you are valued, respected and supported.

THE OPPORTUNITY

The Business Development and Relations Officer plays an important role in supporting entrepreneurship and business development for Indigenous people and communities throughout the Okanagan region. Reporting to the Business Loans Manager, this position is responsible for promoting ANTCO’s lending programs, assessing and recommending loan applications, and managing a regional portfolio of clients.

This is a remote position based in the Okanagan region of British Columbia, and the successful applicant must reside within the region. The role focuses on cultivating and maintaining strong relationships with Indigenous entrepreneurs, communities, and organizations to build ANTCO’s presence and market share in the area. It offers meaningful, community-centered work and the opportunity to strengthen Indigenous economic development across the province.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Client Engagement and Business Development

  • Develop and execute strategies to attract new Indigenous business clients and strengthen existing relationships.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with Indigenous entrepreneurs, communities, and organizations across the Okanagan.
  • Meet clients and prospective clients at their place of business to review business plans, provide guidance, and connect them with available resources.
  • Expand ANTCO’s network by cultivating referral sources and community partnerships to support business growth.
  • Promote awareness of ANTCO’s programs and services through outreach, events, and active participation in the business community.
  • Maintain a strong understanding of the local market and develop relationships with centres of influence to enhance visibility and opportunities.

Lending and Portfolio Management

  • Assess, structure, and prepare business credit applications, ensuring sound credit and risk management practices.
  • Provide both pre- and post-lending support, with a strong focus on aftercare through ongoing mentorship, business check-ins, site visits, and capacity-building workshops that help clients succeed beyond the loan.
  • Manage a portfolio of clients, ensuring timely follow-up, accurate documentation, and effective collaboration with internal teams.
  • Track portfolio performance, identify areas for improvement, and contribute to continuous process enhancement.

Client Service and Relationship Management

  • Deliver exceptional client service, maintaining a high level of professionalism, responsiveness, and cultural awareness.
  • Build trust and long-term relationships by providing consistent, reliable, and community-centered support.

Compliance and Administration

  • Ensure all lending and account management activities are completed accurately, efficiently, and in compliance with ANTCO’s policies and procedures.
  • Protect the confidentiality and security of client and organizational information at all times.
  • Apply sound judgment and discretion in decision-making, maintaining integrity in all business dealings.
  • Prepare and maintain accurate reports, records, and documentation to support internal and external reporting requirements.
  • Perform additional duties as required to support departmental and organizational priorities.
  • 4–6 years of relevant experience and a post-secondary degree in a related field of study, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience working with Indigenous communities and businesses is a strong asset and highly valued in this role.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and manage priorities with a high degree of self-motivation, accountability, and initiative.
  • Strong relationship management and client service skills, with a proven ability to build trust and deliver exceptional service to a diverse range of clients and community partners.
  • Strong financial analysis skills, with the ability to interpret financial statements, assess creditworthiness, and provide actionable insights to drive business growth and mitigate risk.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with Indigenous entrepreneurs, communities, and organizations.
  • Willingness to participate in community and cultural events to support and strengthen relationships across the region.
  • Able to work remotely and travel throughout the Okanagan region to meet with clients and attend community engagements.
  • Skilled in leveraging technology and digital platforms to stay organized, manage client relationships, and support efficient service delivery.
  • Location: Must be based in the Okanagan Region (ANTCO office is located in Kamloops, BC)
  • Travel Requirement: Regular travel within the Okanagan (2–3 days per week) and occasional travel to the Kootenays (approximately once per quarter or as needed).
  • Travel Reimbursement: Mileage is reimbursed for business travel as the role requires.
  • Position Type: Full-Time
  • Salary: $70,000 -$85,000, based on skill set and experience
  • Benefits: Extended health, vision, and dental coverage
  • Variable Compensation: Eligible for a performance-based incentive program
  • Coverage: Long-term disability and life insurance
  • Pension: Employer-supported program
