Job description
Blackbird Interactive is a creative-fueled, future-driven, independent game studio where the best talent in the industry can find long-term careers to help grow their abilities while working on a wide range of projects, which encompass world-class IPs as well as our own creations across multiple genres.
In 2022, we announced that our studio is implementing a four-day work week as well as supporting in-studio, remote within Canada, and hybrid work arrangements as permanent options to our employees.
Blackbird Interactive is seeking a passionate Concept Artist to join our team and continue developing a AAA Sci-fi action title.
In this position, you’ll be working under the supervision of an Art Director, crafting the look of everything from unique weapons to immersive environments.
At BBI, we’re a creative-fueled, future-driven, independent game studio where top talent can grow their careers while working on both world-class IPs and original creations across multiple genres.
We support remote and hybrid working arrangements across Canada (Vancouver, BC). At BBI, you’ll find a flexible, forward-thinking environment where creative voices are valued and nurtured.

Responsibilities

    • Collaborate with Art Director to expand artistic vision of established IP.
    • Create both 2D and 3D concepts as required to produce a variety of AAA assets including weapons, apparel, environments and props.
    • Curate in-depth knowledge of game universe with an eye for immersion.
    • Develop ideas rapidly and provide workable variations based on technical constraints.

Requirements

    • 3+ years of proven gameplay development experience.
    • Excellent design sense, illustration skills and art fundamentals.
    • Ability to quickly generate and communicate wide range of visual ideas.
    • Ability to work in a collaborative environment, experience with Art Directors.
    • Detail oriented with strong practice of visual research.

Pluses

    • Creating useable base 3D concepts.
    • Passion for immersive science fiction.
$75,000 - $85,000 a year
