Position Summary:
407 ETR is looking for an energetic and enthusiastic PR student tosupport theday-to-dayworkof our Communications and Government Relations team.This is a hands‑on opportunity to gain real‑world experience supporting communications that reach customers, employees,mediaand community stakeholders across the GTA.
Reporting to the Communications Manager, the intern willassistwith the planning,developmentand execution of internal and external communications initiatives, providing support across a wide range of projects—from content creation to campaign coordination.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Manage dailyand monthlymediaand social mediamonitoring, includingMedia Rating Points (MRP), tracking coverage, flagging relevantissuesand preparing summary reports
Content creation and maintenance for thecompany’s intranet; responsible for writing,editingand publishing pages asrequired
Works with internal clients toidentifycorporate news anddisseminatesit across the organization through the design and execution of attention-grabbing posters,signageand intranet articles
Assistswith the coordination of internal events asrequired
Contributes to the development of external communications products asrequired. This may include copywriting for customer newsletter articles, bill inserts,webpagesor social media content
Assistswith the development of PowerPoint presentations
Conduct research to support communications and marketing initiatives, includingidentifyingrelevant influencers,trendsandcontent.
Assistswith the inventory and maintenanceof the department’s marketing closet
Coordinates the distribution of promotional items for stakeholder groups as necessary
Completes miscellaneous tasks and duties as assigned
Qualifications:
The successful candidate must be detail-oriented,possessstrong writing skills and come equipped with a “can-do” attitude. Other qualifications include:
Completion of university or college degree. Completion of/orenrolled in a post-graduate certificate program in PR,Corporate Communicationsor Marketingwith an internship requirement for graduation
Understanding of basic principles of corporate communications and public relations
Familiar with social media platforms including Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, Twitter,YouTubeand TikTok
Strong editing and writing skills.
Knowledge of media monitoring and MRP.
Knowledge of Canadian Press style
Microsoft Office – highly proficient in PowerPoint
Excellent communications, interpersonal and organizational skills
Strong attention to detail
Energetic,proactiveand creative
Proficient working in a Mac environment
Knowledge of Adobe Creative Cloud, including Photoshop
Illustrator and InDesign considered an asset
