BCIT’s
School of Construction and the Environment is seeking a
regular Faculty, Architectural Science to join the Bachelor of Architectural Science program beginning in Fall 2026. The successful candidate will teach and contribute to the ongoing development of courses, primarily in the third and fourth years of the degree program and may also play a role in shaping BCIT’s future Bachelor of Architecture.We are seeking an educator and practitioner who brings substantial professional experience, a commitment to teaching excellence, and a forward-looking perspective on the evolving role of architecture in society. The ideal candidate will integrate industry expertise with innovative, sustainable, and ethical design practices while preparing graduates to address the environmental, social, and technological challenges shaping the future of the built environment.
This posting seeks applications for one (1) Regular, full-time (1.0 FTE) Faculty position, with flexibility to hire one full-time (1.0 FTE) faculty member or two part-time (0.5 FTE) faculty members. Duties & Responsibilities
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: - Deliver high-quality instruction through lectures, studios, seminars, labs, and other applied learning activities.
- Develop, maintain, and continuously improve curriculum, learning materials, and assessment methods to align with program outcomes and current industry practices.
- Evaluate student performance and provide timely, constructive feedback while fostering a positive, inclusive, and engaging learning environment.
- Support student success through academic guidance, mentorship, and professional development.
- Collaborate with faculty and the Architectural Science Program Head on program initiatives, curriculum renewal, accreditation activities, and continuous improvement efforts.
Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS:Education and Credentials: - Professional degree in Architecture (Master of Architecture or equivalent).
- Registration as an Architect in Canada, or eligibility for registration.
- Registration with the Architectural Institute of British Columbia (AIBC) is an asset.
- Active engagement with professional organizations and industry networks.
Professional Experience: - Minimum ten years of recent architectural practice experience.
- Demonstrated experience working on a range of project types and scales through multiple phases of design and project delivery
- Post-secondary teaching experience, or significant experience mentoring and developing emerging professionals, is required.
- Demonstrated commitment to sustainable and socially responsible design practices.
- Experience working collaboratively within interdisciplinary teams and engaging with clients, consultants, contractors, and regulatory authorities.
- Proficiency with current architectural technologies and industry-standard communication tools
- Awareness of emerging trends influencing architectural practice, including building performance, digital transformation, advanced construction methods, material innovation, and evolving project delivery models.
