Online Facilitator, AGRC 110, College of Agriculture and Bioresources
Primary Purpose: The College of Agriculture and Bioresources is seeking an Sessional Instructor for during the Fall Term 2026 academic session from September 1, 2026 to December 31, 2026. This course focuses on scientific and data literacy, communications, professionalism, ethics, transferable skills, and reflective learning.
Nature of Work:
Reporting to the Associate Dean Academic of College of Agriculture and Bioresources, the online facilitator will instruct, manage and deliver an online, asynchronous course using Canvas as well as organize and manage a weekly in-person tutorial and the teaching assistants that deliver the in-person tutorial. Responsibilities include guiding students through the course material, managing and grading assignments, and collaborating with the Office of the Vice President of Research (OVPR) in the delivery of a First Year Research Experience (FYRE) project. Some administrative preparation prior to September 2 is required such as hiring and training teaching assistants, and collaborating with the OVPR on organization of FYRE mentors and the FYRE project.
Typical Duties or Accountabilities:
Education: Candidates are expected to hold a graduate degree, PhD preferred, in an area relevant to agriculture or the environment.
Experience: Facilitating or instructing on-line degree-level courses, and training and management of teaching assistants. Preference given to those candidates with previous experience teaching on-line AGRC courses using the Canvas Learning System. A relevant teaching position and/or experience teaching a course with related content will be considered.
Skills: Proficient computer applications and technology skills, including web-based course tool (Canvas Course Tools), word processing, email, internet, and other peripheral accessories and software programs; effective leadership, communication and teaching skills; ability to effectively interact, motivate and build relationships with a diverse student population; demonstrated ability to deal with multiple priorities and effectively organize time in a self-directed manner.
