Remote AV System Designer

We are currently looking for a Senior Audio Visual Design Engineer (Project Engineer) to join a well-known Audiovisual Integrator in Ontario, Canada. This position can be on-site or remote depending on experience and qualifications. The role involves playing an active part in the pre-sales, project scope development, solution design, and commissioning stages of integration projects. The successful individual will provide technical sales support for the Sales Team and technical support to the Integration Team to ensure smooth and efficient installations. The AV System Designer is responsible for creating detailed designs and drawings that include all necessary components, cables, and connectors for our team to build and install a professional AV system.

Responsibilities:

• Work closely with Sales Representatives and clients to develop and design solutions to meet AV requirements
  
• Design and document fully integrated AV systems to include signal routing, audio systems, video conferencing, audio conferencing and all related components
  
• Develop accurate designs that meet functional, technical, and budgetary requirements
  
• Meet with project stakeholders for discussions on functional requirements, usage models, current state, design considerations and expectations
  
• Create engineering packages including AV design and installation specifications, functional and connection-level line drawings, cable risers, elevation drawings, rack layouts, commissioning requirements, general contractors submittals and other support documentation
  
• Review architectural, electrical, mechanical drawings for coordination with AV drawings
  
• Write technical scope of work (SOW) documentation generate a Bill of Materials (BOM) based on a solutions design
  
• Assist team members in responding to RFQs, RFIs, and RFPs
  
• Assist in creating solutions with application drawings and related technical materials for presentation to prospective customers
  
• Keep current with new products and developments in the industry by attending shows, conferences and engaging in forum discussions and with manufacturers
  
• Detailed knowledge of data networking products/solutions and network design including Routing, Switching, IP networks, VPNs, VLAN’s, Servers, Security and Hosting
  
• Regular adherence to deliverable deadlines provided in internal systems or contractual agreements
  

Requirements

Qualifications:

• 5 years as an AV Systems Designer/Engineer
  
• Experience with AutoCAD, BIM, Revit, architectural files & folder structure and work with general contractor project processes and project deployment tools
  
• Skilled at communicating technical information in a simple and effective manner
  
• Experience with documenting AV systems and version control
  
• Experience with AV control systems (Crestron and Extron, QSYS, etc.)
  
• Audio DSP programming for major platforms (QSYS, Biamp, ClearOne, etc.)
  
• Familiarity with IT systems, architecture, and terminologies
  
• Experience integrating and deploying systems in MS Teams and Zoom (UC) environments
  
• Ability to obtain Secret level security clearance
  
• Ability to build strong relationships internally and externally
  

Desirable Key Qualifications/Certifications:

• AVIXA CTS plus either CTS-D / CTS-I certification
  
• Cisco / Polycom VC/Teams certified
  
• Project Experience with Crestron/Extron
  
• Knowledgeable in networking fundamentals such as TCP/IP, addressing, firewalls, routers, VLAN’s, and VPN
  
• QSC Level 2 Certified
  
• Proficient in AutoCAD
