MatchBox Consulting Group is recruiting for a Design Build Engineering Lead to support complex water and wastewater infrastructure projects across British Columbia.
This role is responsible for leading multidisciplinary engineering teams through the design, procurement, construction, and commissioning phases of water and wastewater treatment facilities and pumping stations. The successful candidate will provide both technical leadership and project oversight while helping elevate team capabilities within a fast-paced, multi-project environment.
This position is ideal for an experienced engineering leader who enjoys mentoring others, solving complex technical challenges, and working closely with field and construction teams to deliver practical, cost-effective solutions.
Responsibilities
- Lead and coordinate multidisciplinary engineering teams across design-build infrastructure projects
- Oversee the design and execution of water and wastewater treatment facilities and pumping stations
- Review designs, drawings, and deliverables prepared by consultants, suppliers, and internal teams to identify errors, omissions, and opportunities for improvement
- Coordinate technical information between engineering disciplines, project coordinators, and field personnel
- Evaluate technologies and perform design reviews to ensure constructability, quality, and cost-effectiveness
- Develop process layouts and review fabrication and construction drawings
- Prepare technical specifications, contract documentation, and project proposals
- Support procurement activities to ensure equipment and materials are sourced efficiently and within project budgets
- Provide technical leadership throughout design, construction, commissioning, and project closeout phases
- Collaborate closely with construction and field teams to ensure successful project execution
- Promote a strong culture of safety, quality, accountability, and continuous improvement
- Mentor engineers and technical staff, supporting their development and growth within the organization
Requirements
- Degree in Civil, Mechanical, Environmental Engineering, or a related discipline
- Registered Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) with Engineers and Geoscientists BC (EGBC)
- Minimum 5+ years of experience designing and constructing water or wastewater treatment facilities in Canada
- Minimum 5+ years of experience leading multidisciplinary engineering teams
- Proven experience managing projects through design, construction, and commissioning
- Strong knowledge of water and wastewater treatment systems and infrastructure
- Experience coordinating multiple engineering disciplines including civil, mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, and process engineering
- Strong understanding of building codes, plumbing codes, and construction practices
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to identify design risks and deficiencies
- Strong technical writing, communication, and leadership skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications
- Valid Driver's License and reliable transportation

- Based in the Lower Mainland, British Columbia
- Travel to project sites and the Langley office is required
