Transmission Line Engineering Manager

Matchbox Consulting Group is partnering with a well-established, privately owned power engineering consultancy in the Lower Mainland looking for a Transmission Engineering Manager to join their team.

Our client is a respected name in the BC power and utilities sector, delivering transmission and distribution work for some of the province's most significant utility clients. This is a small, technically driven organization where the people at the top are accessible, decisions get made quickly, and the work you do has a direct impact on how the company grows and where it goes.

This role sits at an interesting intersection. You will be hands-on with transmission line design and package preparation while also stepping into a leadership seat, mentoring the transmission team, and working directly with executive management. WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING

• Lead the design and package preparation for overhead transmission line projects including pole replacements.
• Perform hands-on technical work using PLS-CADD, this is not a pure review role.
• Mentor and support junior and intermediate engineers on the transmission team.
• Collaborate directly with the President and VP of Engineering on project delivery and team direction.
• Coordinate across overhead and underground transmission projects from design through to construction package completion.
• Contribute to business development conversations and client relationships as the team grows.
• Help shape how the transmission function operates as the company continues to expand.

WHO YOU ARE

• 5 or more years of experience in transmission engineering with a strong foundation in overhead line design.
• Proficient in PLS-CADD, this is integral to the role and non-negotiable.
• Experience with BC Hydro projects is a strong asset.
• Familiarity with PLS-Tower is a bonus but not required.
• P.Eng registered in BC or eligible for registration.
• Someone who is comfortable doing the technical work themselves, not just overseeing it.
• Strong mentor with a welcoming, approachable personality and the ability to bring people along.
• Direct management experience is not required, but you should have a track record of guiding and developing junior engineers.
• Comfortable working in a smaller, non-corporate environment where you wear more than one hat.
