Water & Wastewater Engineer

MatchBox Consulting Group is recruiting for a Project Engineer – Water & Wastewater to support the design and delivery of treatment plants and pumping station projects across British Columbia.

This role is ideal for an engineer who enjoys being involved in the full project lifecycle, from design and procurement through construction and commissioning. The successful candidate will work within a multidisciplinary design-build environment, coordinating technical disciplines, reviewing designs, supporting field activities, and helping deliver complex water infrastructure projects.

This position is well suited to someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment, enjoys taking ownership of projects, and is looking to continue growing their technical and project delivery capabilities.

Responsibilities

Lead and coordinate the design and execution of multidisciplinary water and wastewater infrastructure projects

• Prepare and review process layouts, engineering designs, fabrication drawings, and technical documentation
• Review drawings and deliverables from consultants, suppliers, and subcontractors to identify errors, omissions, and opportunities for improvement
• Coordinate design information between engineering disciplines, project coordinators, contractors, and field personnel
• Evaluate technologies and perform engineering design reviews and quality checks
• Prepare detailed construction cost estimates and project schedules
• Develop technical specifications, contract documentation, and procurement packages
• Procure equipment and materials while supporting project budget and schedule objectives
• Prepare proposals and support RFP submissions
• Manage project documentation including RFIs, change orders, shop drawings, and construction records
• Support construction, commissioning, startup, and project closeout activities
• Conduct site inspections and prepare as-built documentation, O&M manuals, testing reports, and turnover packages
• Ensure projects are delivered in accordance with safety, quality, and contractual requirements

Requirements

• Degree in Civil, Mechanical, Environmental Engineering, or a related discipline
• Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation with Engineers and Geoscientists BC (EGBC)
• Minimum 3+ years of experience designing and constructing water or wastewater treatment facilities in Canada
• Experience supporting projects from design through construction and commissioning
• Strong understanding of water and wastewater treatment systems and infrastructure
• Knowledge of building codes, plumbing codes, and construction practices
• Working knowledge of civil, structural, mechanical, HVAC, electrical, instrumentation, and controls disciplines
• Strong attention to detail with the ability to identify technical issues and design deficiencies
• Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving abilities
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications
• Valid Driver’s License and reliable transportation

Preferred Qualifications

Experience within a design-build project environment

• Experience preparing cost estimates, schedules, and procurement documentation
• Experience supporting fabrication, construction, commissioning, and startup activities
• Familiarity with municipal water and wastewater infrastructure projects
• Experience coordinating multidisciplinary engineering teams

Additional Information

Based in the Lower Mainland, British Columbia

• Travel to project sites and office locations is required
