Salary range (but not limited to):

94,200 - 115,200

Annual bonus target, based on the base salary, with a potential payout of up to double the target (subject to personal and company performance):

12%

Salary for the candidate will be determined taking into consideration a number of factors including: experience, skills, qualifications, anticipated contribution to role, internal equity, etc. The salary range presented above is based on a 35-hour workweek and would represent a majority of different candidate profiles. However, we encourage candidates who may fall outside of this range to apply as well.

We’re looking for a Senior Underwriter or Specialist, Surety, to join our growing team!

What you’ll do here:

• Obtain and analyze underwriting data, perform financial analysis and apply critical thinking on underwriting decisions and client relationship issues.

• Analyze financial position of current and new contract clients.

• Provide recommendations to management on contract surety bond support to provide to existing and prospective contract clients.

• Negotiate specific terms and conditions for issuing Contract Surety bonds to clients.

• Monitor the development projects and exposures.

• Develop new business through networking/marketing with brokers, clients, contractors, consultants, lawyers, and other market participants.

• Gain and expand upon industry knowledge to improve underwriting decisions.

• Represent Intact at various contractors' associations and industry-related functions.

What you bring to the table:

• Bachelor’s degree in business, accounting or finance

• Experience - minimum 3 years for the Senior Underwriter and 7 years experience for the Specialist role in contract surety or commercial lending, and/or experience in a commercial insurance underwriting or brokerage capacity.

• Solid understanding of financial statements

• Demonstrated capability for outstanding customer service

• Proven track record for quick, accurate problem resolution

• Strong analytical and research skills

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

• Can handle multiple tasks in a high-volume, fast-paced environment

• Can work independently and collaborate with co-workers in a team setting

• Proficiency with MS Office Suite of products

• No Canadian work experience required however must be eligible to work in Canada.
