Reporting to the Environmental Manager, the Environmental Specialist will be responsible for on‑site environmental oversight to ensure construction activities comply with regulatory, client, and project‑specific requirements while supporting environmental reporting, training, and performance monitoring.
What You’ll Do Here:
- Maintain the Environmental Management System and ensure compliance with applicable best practices, regulations, Environmental Management Plans (EMPs) and site-specific plans.
- Provide reports and attend on-site meetings as required.
- Manage data collection, storage and analysis.
- Oversee daily construction activities to ensure work is completed in compliance with all relevant client requirements as well as provincial and/or federal regulations.
- Develop, implement, and monitor environmental programs and policies.
- Provide advice to project leadership regarding environmental matters as they relate to construction activities.
- Monitor construction activities and evaluate compliance with applicable standards, contract documents and client commitments.
- Monitor and report any potential environmental issues and recommendations for appropriate mitigation and corrective actions.
- Provide training to employees and contractors on environmental awareness.
- Draft, review, and submit daily field reports, incident reports, and compliance audits.
- Track key project performance indicators and develop reports.
- Work with project coordinators/managers, using interpersonal and organizational skills to ensure projects are completed in accordance with an established scope of work.

What You Bring to the Team:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Science or other relevant disciplines.
- 6+ years’ experience of major infrastructure projects.
- Experience conducting construction site environmental monitoring activities.
- Experience working successfully in large, multi-disciplinary engineering design teams, and heavy civil construction teams.
- Demonstrated written and verbal communication skills
- Excellent problem-solving skills.
- Strong knowledge of Provincial and Federal regulations, codes, permits, approvals and technical applications.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Word, Power Point, Excel, SharePoint).
- Be a champion of inclusion and diversity.

Pay Range: $80,000-$110,000
Individual pay is determined based on several factors, including work location, education, experience, unique skills and job conditions. Other considerations may include certifications, specialized training, and the complexity or scope of the role.
