Job Summary
The Constable is responsible for being the customer contact for all policing and security needs. The position requires to respond to emergency calls while sometimes working irregular schedules including days, nights, weekends and holidays to protect a 24/7 operation.
Major Responsibilities
· Develop working partnerships with municipal, provincial and federal police officials, major industries and local businesses that affect CN
· Identify high-risk locations and develop subsequent action plans to secure and prevent losses
· Perform the investigation and prosecution of all criminal and penal incidents and participate actively in the enforcement and promotion of federal and provincial laws dealing with railway safety
· Participate in regular public speaking
· Manage targeted traffic and trespass enforcement
· Conduct presentations on various topics, including Operation Lifesaver
Working Conditions
· Frequent travel over a large geographical area
· Preference will be given to qualified applicants in the geographical area
· Available to work shifts, weekends, and holidays when necessary
Requirements
· Accredited law enforcement program or equivalent
· Certified or eligible to certify for First Aid and cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR)
· Valid drivers' license
· Resides within 50 km of the posting
· Demonstrates good teamwork and maintain positive interactions with other departments and local law enforcement agencies cooperating in matters of mutual concern
· Possesses sound judgment, professionalism, be autonomous and show initiative
· Makes informed and timely decisions to get things done
· Fluency in oral and written English is mandatory, knowledge of French is considered an asset*

Training
The incumbent receives an on-the-job training with a Coach Officer. Successful candidates that do not hold a certificate from an accredited police college will be required to successfully complete a basic police training program of up to six months at a recognized police academy.
