Purchasing/Shipping Assistant

Our Purchasing/Shipping Assistant oversees activities in the procurement and shipping process for our mill and takes a hands-on approach to maintain purchasing system accuracy. They are responsible for ensuring our products get to customers on time and as promised and assist in resolving issues related to logistics, cycle counts, sourcing, inventory reduction initiatives and day-to-day placement for materials and services.
We’re looking for a Purchasing/Shipping Assistant to join the Lakeview Division located in Williams Lake, British Columbia. Our Lakeview Division safely and sustainably produces over million board feet of lumber per year for customers around the world so they can build their homes and their communities.
Our ideal candidate has the following qualifications:
- Experience in related industry; previous purchasing or warehousing experience.
- High School Diploma or Grade Certificate of completion.
- Comfortable using a computer and learning new software.
- Ability to work independently and with a team.
- Organized and detail-oriented.
- Strong customer focus.
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
- Creative problem-solving skills.
- Working towards SCMP (Supply Chain Management Professional) or ASCM (Association for Supply Chain Management) designation is desirable
- Familiarity with mill equipment and/or related parts is considered an asset.
- Experience in wood products manufacturing is considered an asset.

- Work with the Shipping Supervisor to ensure we meet the shipment of all products as specified and scheduled by sales orders.
- Work with the Purchasing Supervisor to ensure that an efficient flow of materials and services is available for the site.
- Leverage your strong interpersonal and communication skills to ensure excellent customer service.
- Use your attention to detail to ensure all activities are completed to standard, including safety.
- Apply your creativity and innovative thinking to improve efficiency through process improvements.
