Job DescriptionSenior Microsoft Fabric & Power BI Architect
1 year initial Contract term (with extension options)
HYBRID Role We are seeking an elite
Senior Microsoft Fabric & Power BI Architect to lead a multi-year modernization initiative for a major Housing Division.
This isn't just a development role, you will be the visionary architecting a high-impact, scalable ecosystem. Your mission will be to unify siloed systems (Excel, SharePoint, the HOME system, Partner Portal, and Find Housing) into a single, seamless, and trusted data journey.
If you are a true champion of the Microsoft data ecosystem who can balance heavy data engineering (Medallion standards) with elite front-end design (Power BI & pixel-perfect Paginated Reports) and comprehensive user enablement, this is the project for you.
Core Architectural & Delivery Focus
1. Scalable Architecture & Medallion Standards
You will design and manage sustainable data products within Microsoft Fabric, providing professional guidance on choosing the right tool for each stage of the data lifecycle:
Ingestion & Transformation: Build robust, automated ETL/ELT processes utilizing Fabric Pipelines and Dataflows.
Storage Strategy: Deploy a clear Medallion Architecture (Bronze ➡️ Silver ➡️ Gold) within Fabric Lakehouses and Warehouses to organize organizational data by maturity.
Semantic Layering: Design highly optimized, "report-ready" semantic models that drive high-performance Power BI insights.
2. End-to-End Report Development
You will bring deep, proven methodologies focused on data accuracy, exceptional User Experience (UX), and optimal performance across two key areas:
Interactive Dashboards: End-to-end development of dynamic, modern Power BI dashboards.
Paginated Reports: Advanced expertise in designing and deploying pixel-perfect reports using SSRS Report Builder for formal corporate reporting.
3. Best Practices, Training & Change Management
Bridge the gap between complex technical deployments and broad business adoption by deploying a versatile training toolkit:
Advanced Technical Training: For engineering and technical users navigating backend Fabric structures, Notebooks, and data layers.
Functional Literacy Training: For business stakeholders requiring foundational guidance on interacting with and interpreting reports.
4. Requirements Elicitation & Optimization
Act as the ultimate translator between business needs and complex data solutions.
Work closely with non-technical stakeholders to untangle complex workflows, proactively identifying opportunities to streamline, deduplicate, and consolidate overlapping reporting efforts.
Required Qualifications Experience Requirements:
5+ years of expert-level proficiency in Power BI, including complex DAX, Power Query, and Paginated Reports (SSRS).
3+ years of heavy, hands-on experience in data modeling and architecture specifically using Microsoft Fabric (Dataflows, Notebooks, Pipelines, Warehouses, and Lakehouses).
3+ years designing and implementing certified datasets and strict data governance frameworks.
