Power the Future of the Columbia Basin – Join Us as an Electrician

Columbia Basin Trust is seeking four Electricians to help power the future of the Columbia Basin. These positions perform installation, maintenance, testing, troubleshooting and repair of electrical equipment and systems that support the safe and reliable operation of our shared hydroelectric assets with Columbia Power: Waneta Expansion, Brilliant Expansion and Arrow Lakes. As an Electrician, you will demonstrate a strong safety and team-focused approach while working on electrical systems at the hydroelectric facilities.

These are permanent, full‑time roles, initially based in our Castlegar office, with a planned permanent relocation to one of our hydroelectric assets on or before March 2027. Salary Range: $100,600 – $118,200 annually, plus eligibility for overtime pay.

Under the direction of an Electrical Crew Lead and reporting to a Plant Supervisor, you will:

• Champion a strong safety and compliance culture by embedding safety into all tasks, proactively addressing hazards, near misses and unsafe conditions.
• Perform inspection, testing, maintenance, repair and commissioning of high, medium and low voltage electrical systems, including switchgear, transformers, Motor Control Centres (MCCs), motors, drives, Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS), batteries and standby generation.
• Execute preventive and corrective maintenance, troubleshooting electrical faults, performing isolations, standard testing and restoring equipment to safe and reliable operation.
• Support outages, unplanned events and after-hours callouts, coordinating protection and control testing and commissioning activities with CPC Technologists.
• Read, interpret and update electrical drawings and documentation, complete work orders and maintain accurate records within the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
• Collaborate effectively with Operations, CPC Technologists, Millwrights and Engineers to plan and execute work efficiently while maintaining tools, test equipment and organized work areas.

What We're Looking For

• Red Seal Journeyperson Electrician certification.
• 3 or more years of industrial or utility electrical maintenance experience, preferably within hydroelectric generation or heavy industry.
• Demonstrated experience with high, medium and low voltage equipment, including MCCs, motors/drives and battery/UPS systems.
• Strong commitment to safety in electrical and heavy industrial environments.
• Valid Class 5 BC Driver's License with an acceptable driving record.

Additional Information

• Location and On Call: Based in one of three hydroelectric facilities; travel to other facilities as required. On‑call/after‑hours support may also be required.
• This role will have overtime requirements based on operational and planned outage needs.
