Adecco is currently hiring a full-time
Car Mechanic Apprentice (Freight Car Repairer) to join a dynamic rail operations team.
In this hands-on role, you will be responsible for
inspecting, maintaining, building, and repairing railway freight cars and equipment in accordance with federal regulations and company standards. This position offers a structured path toward becoming a
fully qualified Journey Car Mechanic through paid training and apprenticeship opportunities.

Responsibilities: - Inspect rail cars and components in accordance with railroad association standards and federal regulations
- Perform preventive, scheduled, and on-demand maintenance and repairs on freight cars and systems
- Repair and install components such as air valves, compressors, bearings, couplings, cylinders, and piping
- Maintain underframes, structures, safety appliances, and draft systems
- Use tools including hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, and cutting torches
- Operate equipment such as cranes, trucks, and shop machinery
- Complete inspection reports, maintenance logs, and documentation accurately
- Work safely and efficiently while meeting quality and performance standards
Qualifications and Skills: - High School Diploma or GED equivalent
- Must be 18 years of age or older
- Valid Driver's License
- Ability to meet medical fitness and safety requirements
- Strong mechanical aptitude and ability to identify wear and defects in parts
- Basic computer skills
- Strong communication, teamwork, and problem-solving abilities
- Ability to work independently and adapt to changing conditions
- Previous welding experience
- Vocational or technical training in mechanical or rail operations
- Familiarity with railroad operating rules
- Experience using electrical or electronic tools
- Mu st be legally eligible to work, and reside in Canada
Working Conditions - Work in both indoor and outdoor environments in various weather conditions
- Perform physically demanding tasks including lifting (up to 50 lbs regularly, 85 lbs occasionally), bending, kneeling, and climbing
- Work night shifts, weekends, holidays, and overtime as required
- May be required to travel or work away from assigned terminal
- Requires strong hand-eye coordination and physical stamina
