Job description

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:



Reporting to a Director in the Mental Health and Addictions Program, the Clinical Education Leader (CEL) for Community Mental Health and Addictions is responsible for providing clinical education and leadership support within the program. The CEL will encourage, promote and facilitate continuous learning for staff to ensure continuous improvement in clinical practice. The CEL works collaboratively with all members of the interdisciplinary team to support education and training for staff, and be a resource for LH corporate initiatives related to mental health and substance use.

* Assess and address both the current and anticipated education needs of staff;
* Support the orientation of new staff and act as a resource to the Program;
* Evaluate the impact of education on client care and other relevant outcomes;
* Advocate for, and participate in, the development and maintenance of a workplace that supports staff in the performance of their roles, ensuring best practices and supporting lifelong learning;
* Collaborate with Managers in the development and ongoing evaluation of policies, procedures, standards and directives;
* As required, participate in staff performance evaluations through regular collaboration with the Manager;
* Work in conjunction with program managers to facilitate an appropriate learning environment; monitor performance and take appropriate remedial action when required;
* Lead the assessment, development, implementation and evaluation of evidence-based client education programs related to a range of mental health and addiction treatment modalities.
* Collaborate with internal or external parties, as appropriate, to assess, develop, implement and evaluate public education programs;
* Collaborate with the Lakeridge Clinical Practice Leaders on corporate initiatives.

QUALIFICATIONS:

* Registration with a professional college (e.g. OCSWSSW);
* Bachelors Degree in a related field from a recognized university; Masters degree is preferred;
*Experience and training in the practice of Psychotherapy
*Experience and training in addictions care
*Experience in the provision of community mental health and addictions care
* Certification in non-violent crisis intervention training;
* Demonstrated recent clinical experience, minimum, three years, in the mental health and/or substance use field
* Excellent client assessment skills and theoretical knowledge base for utilization in patient focused program decision making
* Experience with program development
* Proven knowledge of the principles of adult education
* Excellent presentation skills as demonstrated and endorsed by past experience
* Demonstrated analytical, interpersonal and communication skills (verbal and written)
* Strong computer skills with knowledge of Microsoft office
* Evidence of continuing education in clinical specialty
* Current B.C.L.S Heart and Stroke Foundation Standards
* Ability to travel throughout Durham Region.
* Must have satisfactory performance record;
