to join our team. The successful candidate will inspire students through engaging and culturally responsive performing arts programming while supporting student growth, confidence, and creativity in both junior and senior high school settings.
This position offers an exciting opportunity to build and expand performing arts programming that may include drama, technical theatre, and CTS/CTF options connected to the arts and media.
Position Overview The Performing Arts Teacher Will
Teach Junior High and Senior High Drama courses
Develop engaging performing arts programming that encourages creativity, collaboration, and self‑expression
Potentially teach Technical Theatre and CTS/CTF courses such as stagecraft, media production, design, or related areas
Organize and direct student performances, productions, showcases, and school/community events
Foster a safe, inclusive, and positive classroom environment
Incorporate Indigenous perspectives, storytelling, language, and culture into learning experiences
Collaborate with school staff, administration, Elders, and community members to support student success
Support extracurricular opportunities related to theatre, performance, and the arts
Qualifications
Valid Alberta Teaching Certificate (or eligibility for certification)
Bachelor of Education or equivalent
Background in Drama, Performing Arts, Theatre, Music, Dance, or related field preferred
Experience teaching Junior and/or Senior High students preferred
Experience with technical theatre, stage production, lighting, sound, or media arts considered an asset
Knowledge of CTS/CTF programming is an asset
Strong classroom management and relationship‑building skills
Commitment to culturally responsive teaching and Indigenous education
