What is the opportunity?

As a Trust Officer, you will create an exceptional client experience by providing superior service and a complete range of estate and trust solutions that meet client needs. You will achieve business results in partnership with the team by identifying, growing, and retaining a long-term profitable high-net-worth (HNW) portfolio of clients. By leveraging cross-selling opportunities, you will manage and develop strong relationships with existing and prospective clients and centres of influence.

By joining RBC Royal Trust, you will have direct impact on improving the lives of clients by helping settle their estates, protecting their legacies, and improving the communities in which they live. We are a team committed to helping clients achieve peace of mind now and for the future.

What will you do?

  • Handle estate, trust, and protection mandate accounts
  • Create an exceptional client experience by providing superior service and comprehensive fiduciary solutions that meet the needs and goals of clients
  • Develop proactive client contact strategies to ensure the broadening of the client relationship to the next generation and with RBC Wealth Management
  • Ensure client strategic objectives are known and reviewed, and a documented client action plan is set up customized to the client’s unique situation
  • Identify any referral opportunities to appropriate professionals across the RBC network
  • Ensure the process for obtaining new business is efficient and seamless for the client and their professional advisors
  • Demonstrate a commitment to taking ownership and accountability for efficient client problem resolution
  • Responsible for overall client relationship management and acting as the representative of the client portfolio
  • Assist and mentor team members in achieving their potential through effective coaching, mentoring, communication, and training and development activities

What do you need to succeed?

Must-have

  • 2-4 years of experience related to estates and trusts
  • Demonstrated ability in managing complex family dynamics, the grieving process, and dealing with conflict
  • Ability to communicate with clients about general investment, estate, financial, trust, and taxation issues, including economic conditions
  • Strong communication (written and verbal), as you will regularly serve our clients and do business with RBC partners and/or employees across Canada
  • Possess or working towards Trust and Estate Practitioner (TEP) designation

Nice-to-have

  • Canadian Securities Course (CSC)
  • General knowledge of RBC products and services
  • Solid foundation in values-based selling

What’s in it for you?

We thrive on the challenge to be our best, progressive thinking to keep growing, and working together to deliver trusted advice to help our clients thrive and communities prosper. We care about each other, reaching our potential, making a difference to our communities, and achieving success that is mutual.

  • Ability to make a difference and lasting impact
  • Work in a dynamic, collaborative, progressive, and high-performing team
  • A world-class training program in financial services
  • Opportunities to take on progressively greater accountabilities

The expected salary range for the above position is $55,000 - 85,000 depending on factors including but not limited to the candidate’s experience, skills, registration status; market conditions; and business needs.

  • Drives RBC’s high-performance culture
  • Enables collective achievement of our strategic goals
  • Generates sustainable shareholder returns and above market shareholder value
