The leləm̓ YMCA Community Centre is inviting Expressions of Interest from qualified fitness professionals to deliver exceptional group fitness programming at Vancouver’s newest YMCA facility in the UBC / University Endowment Lands community.
We are seeking energetic, passionate, and competent instructors who are dedicated to creating inclusive, welcoming, and engaging environments where participants of all ages, backgrounds, and abilities can succeed and feel supported.
For our initial soft opening in July 2026, we are seeking approximately 3–5 instructors to help establish our group fitness offerings. Additional instructor opportunities will become available as we expand programming in preparation for our full grand opening in Fall 2026.
Contract Details
Rate of Pay: $50 per class
Contract Type: Independent Contractor
Schedule: Flexible; based on program needs and instructor availability
Location: leləm̓ YMCA Community Centre, 5490 Shortcut Rd, Vancouver, BC
Start-Date: Mid-July
Program Areas of Interest
We are currently prioritizing instructors who can deliver the following group fitness formats:
Yoga
Tai Chi / Qigong
Karate / Kung Fu
Pilates
HIIT (High-Intensity Interval Training)
Step Fitness
Strength / Conditioning
Zumba / Dance Fitness
Meditation / Breathwork
Qualifications
Applicants should possess:
Current nationally recognized fitness or instructor certification (, BCRPA, canfitpro, ACE, NASM, or discipline-specific certification such as yoga, martial arts, or Pilates)
Current First Aid certification with AED + CPR
Professional liability insurance (or ability to obtain prior to start)
Demonstrated competence leading group fitness classes
Experience working with diverse and inclusive populations
Strong communication, interpersonal, and customer service skills
All successful candidates will be required to complete a Vulnerable Sector Criminal Record Check as a condition of contracted work
