TAQA North is seeking an Exploitation Engineer to join the Central Asset team. Reporting to the Asset Manager, this role is a key contributor in a multi-disciplinary team, driving value generation through the identification, planning, and execution of development opportunities. The Exploitation Engineer will forecast and track production, develop depletion strategies to maximize asset value, and identify optimization opportunities. The role supports project planning and execution, prepares investment justifications, and collaborates with cross-functional teams to deliver results. In partnership with senior staff, the Exploitation Engineer will perform economic evaluations of development opportunities and capital investments, forecast production and capital spending, support budgeting and reserves processes, and provide regular project and budget status updates. This is a Calgary based role, working from our downtown Calgary office with occasional field travel.
Key Responsibilities
Initiate and steward development/exploitation projects, acting as project manager within a team of multi-disciplinary technical professionals and supporting staff.
Interface with the asset, functional teams and operations to enhance capital efficiency and project delivery.
Perform economic evaluations including capital projects and acquisition and divestiture initiatives
Develop and quantify depletion strategies for assigned areas within the Asset Team
Forecast production volumes, prepare capital budgets and steward results
Identify optimization opportunities, technology applications and value maximizing initiatives on a proactive basis
Assist Joint Venture and Mineral Land staff with the assessment of non-operated drilling, optimization, and infrastructure projects
Represent the Asset Team in communications with regulatory bodies, partners and other external stakeholders
Collaborate and provide informal mentorship when required.
Key Qualifications
A Bachelor’s degree in Engineering 8 to 15 years experience in Oil & Gas. Previous experience working in as an Exploitation Engineer is preferred.
Professional Engineering designation (P.Eng. with APEGA) required
Strong leadership and project management skills, with a track record of successfully managing and executing multiple assignments with minimal supervision.
Demonstrates strong initiative by proactively identifying opportunities for improvement and collaborating with others to implement creative, practical solutions.
Creative individual with a desire to continuously learn and develop their own skills.
Enthusiastic, highly motivated team player with good organizational and technical skills.
Experience working with: ValNav, PEEP, PowerBI, Excel, AccuMap, WellView, Avocet, ProdView
This role is based in Calgary with occasional field travel
Legally eligible to work in Canada
Ability to provide three satisfactory professional references and complete a satisfactory criminal background check.
