Job description
SUMMARY OF THE POSITION The Research Assistant supports the Public Health Proximity team in the collection, consolidation, analysis, and interpretation of qualitative and quantitative data gathered through consultations, stakeholder engagements, and community visits across the nine Eeyou Istchee communities. The incumbent assists in identifying emerging themes, priorities, trends, and community needs to support planning, development, and community informed public health initiatives. Working within established project and research frameworks, the incumbent prepares summaries, reports, briefing materials, and tracking tools adapted to various audiences. The role also supports consultation coordination, information management, and knowledge translation activities in collaboration with internal teams, community stakeholders, and regional partners. REQUIREMENTS Education: • College diploma (DEC) in Public Health, Social Sciences, Health Sciences, Administration, Research, or a related field (required). • Training or experience in research methods, program evaluation, data analysis, or Indigenous health is considered an asset. Experience: • Experience working in Indigenous communities, ideally within a public health or research setting. • Demonstrated experience in consultation design, data collection, and analysis. • Experience collaborating with community leadership, health and social service teams, and/or research governance bodies. Knowledge and Abilities: • Knowledge of research ethics, OCAP principles, and culturally respectful engagement approaches; • Strong skills in data consolidation, analysis, synthesis, interpretation, and report writing; • Knowledge of public health, community engagement, or health and social services environments is an asset; • Familiarity with Cree culture, traditional knowledge, and community realities; • Good knowledge of administrative and office procedures; • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and information management tools; • Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and meet deadlines in a fast paced environment; • Strong organizational, analytical, and attention to detail skills; • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; • Demonstrated accountability, initiative, discretion, and resourcefulness; • Strong teamwork and collaboration skills. Language: • Fluent in English; • Fluency in Cree is an asset. OTHER • Possibility of teleworking.
