Job description
Position Overview Occasional Educational Assistant – Halton District School Board, multiple schools across the Halton Region (Halton Hills, Burlington, Georgetown, Milton, Oakville). Start date: September 1, 2026. Work schedule: approximately 10 months per year, flexible based on school assignments.

Compensation and Benefits Hourly rate

$28.86

plus 4 % vacation pay. Assignments offer flexibility, summers off, and the opportunity to work in multiple schools across the region.

Responsibilities

Support student learning and help students access educational programs.

Promote student independence and comply with relevant education and employment legislation, policies and safety regulations.

Assist students with lessons, special needs, and personal hygiene, including toileting and diapering where required.

Adapt to changing environments, including assignment changes related to students, schedules and expectations.

Work as part of a team with teachers and other staff to meet the needs of specific students or programs.

Qualifications

Community College diploma in Educational Support, Educational Assistant or related field.

Minimum of six months related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Preferred: at least one year of experience working with children with various physical, intellectual, behavioral or other learning disabilities.

Physical ability to perform job duties; candidates must complete a post‑employment offer screen.

Availability to work a minimum of 20 assignments per school year.

Willingness to accept assignments in the Halton District School Board jurisdiction.

Screening and Background Checks Offers of employment are conditional on a Criminal Background Check with Vulnerable Sector Screening dated within six months, and a post‑employment offer screen to confirm physical fitness for core responsibilities.
