The Opportunity
This position sits within Abbott Nutrition, under the Canada Transportation & Logistics team, and may be based in Montreal, Victoriaville, Markham, Mississauga, or other Canadian locations.
As a Transportation Planner, reporting to the Sr. Manager, Warehouse Operations & Transportation – Canada, you will support the execution of finished goods transportation activities across Canada. You will partner cross‑functionally to ensure timely, compliant, and cost‑effective transportation solutions while meeting customer and quality requirements.
This role is ideal for a highly organized, analytical professional with strong operational execution skills.
What You’ll Do
Transportation Planning & Coordination
- Plan and coordinate customer delivery appointments with partner carriers and customer platforms
- Support inbound and outbound transportation schedules
- Coordinate product returns, rework logistics, and special transportation requests
- Manage the replenishment of empty pallets to distribution centers
Operations & Performance Analysis
- Generate daily temperature tracking reports to support transportation requirements
- Analyze pallet requirements for rework projects and plan transportation accordingly
- Produce transportation reports for analysis and continuous improvement
- Participate in root‑cause analysis related to shortages, overs, and shipping errors
Administrative & Financial Support
- Process all transportation invoices, including coding, auditing, corrections, and submission
- Submit bi‑weekly carrier statements for shipped but un‑invoiced orders
- Provide proof of delivery to Finance and Customer Service teams
- Manage transportation claims from documentation through reimbursement
Cross‑Functional Collaboration
- Act as the primary contact for the Canada Transportation inbox
- Serve as liaison between internal Abbott teams, third‑party logistics providers, and carriers
- Collaborate with Customer Service, Supply Chain, Quality Assurance, and Credit teams
- Support expedited shipment requests related to patient needs
Required Qualifications
- College diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Logistics or Supply Chain Management
- 1–3 years of relevant experience in transportation or distribution operations
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced environment
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem‑solving skills
- Strong interpersonal and customer service skills
- High attention to detail and ability to work independently
Technical & Language Skills
- Knowledge of warehousing operations and transportation modes (OTR, intermodal, parcel)
- Experience working with 3PL environments and systems such as SAP and e2open / BluJay
- Proficiency in MS Office, particularly Excel
- Ability to communicate effectively in English and French, both written and spoken, due to cross‑Canada collaboration
