We teach students how to learn French. We help students improve their academic and study skills in a small group setting. Our class sizes are small, with a maximum of three students per teacher. We provide all of the curriculum and lessons. Teachers do not need to lesson plan. Teachers explain and guide students through the provided material and help students talk about their understanding.

Position Requirements

All teachers work during evening hours (3:00/4:00 pm – 8:00 pm). Some teachers also work Saturdays. Students will love working with you, and reliability is a must. Candidates must possess a strong background in spoken and written French and English and be comfortable teaching up to Grade 9 level, but up to Grade 12 is preferred. The role is in‑person; you must be able to commute to the location. This is not an online position. Relocation packages are not available. Vulnerable sector screening is mandatory.

Applicants must reside in or within a short commute of the Ajax area.

Education

• Bachelor’s degree or similar certification in a relevant field
• Fourth‑year university students with extensive tutoring experience will be considered
• Teaching certification an asset
• Good knowledge of the current Grades 9‑12 French core curriculum

Experience

• Some experience teaching/tutoring French at a Grade 9 to 12 (or equivalent) level
• Strong English written and oral communication skills
• Strong French skills and ability to guide students’ understanding
• Ability to multitask and balance working with up to three students at a time

Responsibilities (Position Details)

• Teaching up to 3 students at a time at different levels
• Teaching in‑person
• Following the Oxford Learning methodologies and philosophies
• Filling in post‑lesson notes
• Completing daily student communication updates
• Maintaining a friendly and professional manner at all times

Schedule

• Mondays and Wednesdays 3:00 pm/4:00 pm – 8:00 pm OR Tuesdays and Thursdays from 3:00 pm/4:00 pm – 8:00 pm
• Potential for Saturday mornings too, 9:00 am – 1:00 pm
