Job description
Join West Neighbourhood House as a Women’s Empowerment Counsellor in Toronto. This permanent full-time position provides crucial support for women and gender-diverse survivors of violence.
At West Neighbourhood House, serving the community for over a century, your role will involve trauma-informed practice and assistance for clients experiencing violence. You will utilize your counselling skills to enable individuals to navigate their recovery while addressing their specific needs and providing necessary referrals.
Key Responsibilities: • Conduct needs assessments and create personalized safety plans • Organize and lead support group sessions • Advocate for participants within various service systems • Collaborate with community professionals for referrals • Document case notes and program evaluations
Requirements: • BSW degree and current Ontario registration • Three years’ experience in crisis and mental health services • In-depth knowledge of gender-based violence issues • Competence in risk assessments and interventions • Strong organizational and communication skills
