Salary: | $47.83 - 56.75 per hour, depending on experience and qualifications as per the BCGEU Faculty Collective Agreement. Temporary employees receive an additional 2% in lieu of benefits on regular earnings, 6% vacation and 4.2% statutory holiday pay, paid out with each pay day. Optional enrolment in the College Pension Plan is available, with employer-matched contributions. The period between Christmas and New Year's Day is unpaid time off. |
Description: | The successful candidate will join our team of Trades & Apprenticeship Instructors to deliver SkilledTradesBC certified training across all levels of the Electrical program, from Foundation through Level 4. As the energy and construction sectors continue to grow, demand for qualified Electricians remains strong. Through the study of residential, commercial, and industrial electrical practices, students develop the theoretical knowledge and practical skills required to install, maintain, and troubleshoot industry equipment. Safe work practices are emphasized throughout the program, with numerous opportunities for students to demonstrate these competencies in the foundation lab. Classroom instruction is reinforced through hands-on training in a state-of-the-art electrical lab. Upon successful completion of the program, students are prepared to challenge the Interprovincial Red Seal examination. This position is intended to support the delivery of an additional Electrical program cohort. |
Qualifications: | Required: - Interprovincial Red Seal Electrician certification, including a completed apprenticeship certificate
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and contribute positively to a post-secondary environment
- A supportive, student-centred approach with a strong commitment to student success
Preferred: - Previous experience instructing the Construction Electrician curriculum as prescribed by SkilledTradesBC
- Completion of the Provincial Instructor Diploma Program (PIDP) or an equivalent adult education credential (or a demonstrated willingness to obtain)
