Job descriptionWhat is the opportunity? You will be responsible for architectural delivery in the Identity and Access Management domain for Global Security at RBC. You will work both directly and through a team of Solution Architects who report to you. Your role is critical to defining end‑to‑end architectures and designs for workforce, third‑party, customer, non‑human and agentic IAM solutions across the bank.
What will you do?
Define solutions that realize workforce, third‑party, customer, non‑human and agentic IAM capabilities, develop and evolve solution architectures and designs, demonstrate solutions and meet stakeholder requirements.
Propose, evaluate and recommend solution alternatives that best align with business strategy, requirements, current‑state constraints and target‑state architecture.
Deliver architectures and designs within an agile/SAFe project framework, ensuring sufficient architecture runways are available and providing technical leadership and guidance.
Manage a team of Solution Architects to ensure effective architectural delivery across multiple projects and solutions.
Support the development of comprehensive IAM strategy roadmaps, and provide input to product backlog refinement, prioritization and feasibility assessment while ensuring the team addresses technical debt.
Author patterns to drive reuse of IAM services across the bank.
Serve as a trusted partner in IAM capabilities, standards and best practices.
Liaise with other enterprise architecture and engineering teams to ensure all architectural views are defined and solutions are implemented as designed.
Participate in and support the execution of RBC architecture governance.
What do you need to succeed?
Technical leadership skills and strong verbal and written communication to guide project delivery teams and negotiate stakeholder buy‑in.
Extensive knowledge and application of IAM capabilities (authentication, authorization, user, credential and role management, access certification, privileged access management, secrets management, etc.) and hands‑on experience designing these solutions.
Experience designing reusable enterprise security services across diverse use cases.
Experience designing solutions to meet regulatory requirements in Canada, the UK and US.
Diverse solutioning experience across environments, platforms and channels.
Practical experience with protocols and standards such as SAML, OAuth, OIDC, SCIM, FIDO2, NIST 800‑63.
Experience with architectural frameworks (e.g., Zachman, TOGAF, SABSA) and techniques (e.g., OO, top‑down, structured analysis, component‑based design).
Experience applying IT risk management practices to assess, measure and reduce risk related to the IAM domain.
Bachelor’s degree in a technical field (computer science, engineering, etc.) or a related BS/BA.
8+ years of IT experience with 5+ years in solution architecture on large projects, with a proven track record of evolving architectures for large user bases from initiation to support.
What’s in it for you?
A comprehensive Total Rewards Program, including bonuses, flexible benefits, competitive compensation, commissions, and stock where applicable.
Leadership support through coaching and development opportunities.
The chance to make a lasting impact in a dynamic, collaborative, and high‑performing team.
Opportunities for challenging work and progressively greater responsibilities.
