Job description
Are you an experienced technical leader looking to join a premier construction and perimeter security firm in Western Canada? We are currently seeking a highly skilled Lead Automatic Gate Systems Technician to spearhead installations and service operations at our primary hub in Edmonton. This is a full-time, permanent career path designed for a professional who thrives on variety, technical challenges, and mentoring a growing team.

In this role, you won't just be turning wrenches; you will be the technical heartbeat of the department. You will oversee complex installations of automated entry systems, ensuring that electrical components, mechanical structures, and safety protocols align perfectly. Our ideal candidate is someone who balances "boots-on-the-ground" hard work with the strategic mindset needed to coordinate with project managers and third-party contractors. Whether you are troubleshooting low-voltage circuits or operating specialized trenching equipment, your expertise will ensure every project meets the highest standards of quality and durability.

Beyond the technical side, this position offers the chance to travel for short-term projects and earn significant overtime. If you are a disciplined, ambitious professional with a CET designation and a passion for leading teams toward peak productivity, we want to hear from you.

Advantages
Comprehensive Compensation: Competitive salary tailored to your industry experience.
Full Benefits: Access to a robust health and dental benefits package.
Incentive Programs: Eligibility for department growth bonuses and monetary incentives for out-of-town assignments.
Resource Support: A dedicated service vehicle and all necessary professional tools are provided.
Stable Growth: Joining a long-standing industry leader with a consistent pipeline of work.

Responsibilities
Team Leadership: Supervise and mentor junior technicians, fostering a culture of continuous learning and departmental growth.
Technical Execution: Install and service various automated gate brands, including Liftmaster, Auto Gate, and HySecurity systems.
Operations Management: Develop daily work plans, manage material requisitions, and ensure resources are allocated effectively to meet deadlines.
Field Problem Solving: Act as the primary point of contact for troubleshooting electrical circuits (primary and low voltage) and resolving site-specific mechanical issues. Reporting & Liaison: Provide detailed daily progress reports and maintain professional communication with customer representatives and senior management.
Safety & Compliance: Enforce strict adherence to internal and client-specific safety protocols

Qualifications
CET (Certified Engineering Technologist) designation is an desired asset.
Technical Skills: Deep knowledge of electrical circuitry and mechanical systems; proficiency in welding and operating light machinery (mini-trenchers, skid steers) is required.
Experience: Proven track record in gate operator installation or a closely related automated systems field.
Compliance: Must possess a valid driver’s license with a clean abstract, a clear criminal record check, and the ability to pass ongoing drug and alcohol screenings. Availability: Willingness to work 44–50 hours per week and travel for out-of-town projects as needed.
