Job descriptionBiochemist – AI Data Trainer Your deep expertise in biochemistry is exactly what the next generation of AI needs. At Alignerr, we partner with the world's leading AI research labs to train and refine cutting-edge scientific AI models — and we need PhD-level biochemists to help us do it right.
This is a fully remote, flexible contract role where your knowledge of protein folding, metabolic flux, enzyme kinetics, and molecular genetics directly shapes how AI reasons about life science. No AI background required — just rigorous scientific thinking and a passion for accuracy.
Organization: Alignerr
Type: Hourly Contract
Location: Remote
Commitment: 10–40 hours/week
What You’ll Do
Design Expert‑Level Problems: Craft advanced biochemistry challenges across domains like proteomics, nucleic acid chemistry, structural biology, and drug‑target interactions to stress‑test AI reasoning.
Author Ground‑Truth Solutions: Write detailed, step‑by‑step scientific solutions and benchmark responses that serve as the gold standard for AI training.
Audit AI Outputs: Critically evaluate AI‑generated biochemical pathways, molecular structures, and mathematical derivations for scientific accuracy and logical integrity.
Refine AI Reasoning: Pinpoint flaws in AI thinking — incorrect stoichiometry, misapplied stereochemistry, faulty metabolic logic — and deliver structured, actionable feedback to improve model performance.
Who You Are
Advanced Degree: PhD (completed or near‑completion) in Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, or a closely related discipline.
Deep Domain Knowledge: Strong foundational expertise in at least one of: structural biology, enzymology, cellular metabolism, bioinformatics, or molecular genetics.
Exceptional Scientific Writer: Able to communicate complex biological and chemical concepts with precision and clarity.
Detail‑Oriented: High accuracy when working with chemical equations, molecular diagrams, reaction mechanisms, and experimental protocols.
No AI experience required — if you can think rigorously about science, you’re ready.
Nice to Have
Experience with data annotation, quality evaluation, or academic peer review
Familiarity with computational tools such as PyMOL, AlphaFold, BLAST, or similar platforms
Background in bioinformatics or cheminformatics
