About the Role:

Alcoa is seeking a Global Principal Mechanical Engineer to provide functional leadership and subject matter expertise across our global mechanical engineering discipline. Reporting to the Global Asset Integrity, Mechanical Engineering, Process Safety and Risk Manager, this role is critical in shaping and governing Alcoa’s global mechanical engineering standards, systems, and technology roadmap. This position plays a pivotal role in aligning mechanical engineering programs with Alcoa’s Asset Management strategy, delivering sustained improvements in asset integrity, reliability, safety, and cost performance across our mining, refining, and smelting operations worldwide.

Key Responsibilities include:

  • Act as a Global Technical Authority for Mechanical Engineering, providing leadership, coaching, and decision-making support across all regions.
  • Drive the development, governance, and continuous improvement of global mechanical engineering standards, systems, and processes.
  • Ensure consistent application of best-practice mechanical engineering aligned with Asset Management objectives.
  • Develop and govern global mechanical engineering standards aligned with OSHA, ASME, ISO, CSA, Australian and regional regulations.
  • Establish inspection, maintenance, modernization, and asset integrity policies.
  • Define KPIs and audit frameworks to ensure compliance and performance across sites.

What you can bring to the role:

  • Support business case development, concept design, and technology selection.
  • Develop and maintain a global 5‑year Mechanical Equipment Development Roadmap aligned with business and Asset Management strategy.
  • Lead preferred and approved equipment standardization across regions.
  • Provide SME support to Operations, Reliability, Maintenance Planning & Execution (REX), Capital Projects, and OMS development.
  • Support Capex and Opex projects to ensure technical excellence and alignment with global standards.
  • Participate in biannual mechanical risk reviews and capital prioritization processes.
  • Develop training content for mechanical engineering systems, standards, and processes.
  • Collaborate with global and regional leaders to align mechanical strategies with business priorities.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering
  • Significant relevant experience in mechanical engineering
  • Demonstrated engineering leadership or management roles
  • Experience in mining, refining, and/or smelting industries
  • Willingness to travel internationally to Alcoa sites

À propos du poste:

Alcoa est à la recherche d’un ingénieur principal, Génie mécanique – Global, pour assurer un leadership fonctionnel et offrir une expertise de référence à l’échelle de notre fonction globale de génie mécanique. Relevant du gestionnaire global, Intégrité des actifs, Génie mécanique, Sécurité des procédés et Gestion des risques, cette personne jouera un rôle clé dans l’orientation et la gouvernance des normes, des systèmes et de la feuille de route technologique globales en génie mécanique chez Alcoa. Ce poste est essentiel pour aligner les programmes de génie mécanique sur la stratégie de gestion des actifs d’Alcoa et pour favoriser des améliorations durables en matière d’intégrité des actifs, de fiabilité, de sécurité et de maîtrise des coûts dans l’ensemble de nos activités minières, de raffinage et de fonderie à l’échelle globale.

Les principales responsabilités comprennent :

  • Agir à titre d’autorité technique globale en génie mécanique en offrant du leadership, du coaching et un soutien à la prise de décision dans toutes les régions.
  • Diriger l’élaboration, la gouvernance et l’amélioration continue des normes, des systèmes et des processus globaux en génie mécanique.
  • Assurer l’application uniforme des meilleures pratiques en génie mécanique, en cohérence avec les objectifs de gestion des actifs.
  • Élaborer et encadrer des normes globales en génie mécanique alignées sur les exigences de l’OSHA, de l’ASME, de l’ISO, de la CSA ainsi que sur les réglementations australiennes et régionales.
  • Établir des politiques d’inspection, d’entretien, de modernisation et d’intégrité des actifs.
  • Définir les indicateurs de performance clés et les cadres d’audit afin d’assurer la conformité et la performance à l’échelle des sites.
  • Soutenir l’élaboration des analyses de rentabilisation, la conception préliminaire et la sélection technologique.
  • Élaborer et maintenir une feuille de route globale sur 5 ans pour le développement des équipements mécaniques, alignée sur la stratégie d’affaires et de gestion des actifs.
  • Diriger la normalisation des équipements privilégiés et approuvés dans toutes les régions.
  • Offrir un soutien d’expert aux équipes des opérations, de la fiabilité, de la planification et de l’exécution de la maintenance (REX), des projets d’investissement et du développement de l’OMS.
  • Soutenir les projets de Capex et d’Opex afin d’assurer l’excellence technique et l’alignement sur les normes globales.
  • Participer aux revues semestrielles des risques mécaniques et aux processus de priorisation des investissements.
  • Élaborer du contenu de formation portant sur les systèmes, normes et processus de génie mécanique.
  • Collaborer avec les leaders globaux et régionaux afin d’harmoniser les stratégies mécaniques avec les priorités d’affaires.

Qualifications et expérience :

  • Baccalauréat en génie mécanique
  • Expérience significative en génie mécanique
  • Expérience démontrée dans des rôles de leadership ou de gestion en ingénierie
  • Expérience dans les secteurs minier, du raffinage ou de la fonderie
  • Disponibilité à voyager à l’international vers les sites d’Alcoa
