Tech Rescue

We are seekingTechnical Rescuersto support industrial sites requiring standby rescue coverage and emergency response. This position involves rope rescue confined space rescue and other technical rescue functions in highârisk industrial environments.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform rope rescue operations including highâangle and lowâangle evolutions.
• Provide confined space standby atmospheric monitoring and rescue capability.
• Execute confined space and rope rescue during drills and emergency events.
• Maintain inspect and document rescue equipment readiness.
• Participate in training drills and skills maintenance to meet competency requirements.
• Follow all site safety protocols procedures and regulatory standards.

Required Qualifications

• NFPA 1006 Rope Rescue and Confined Space Rescue (or equivalent or higher).
• Demonstrated experience in technical rescue operations.
• Ability to successfully pass the Total Safety Emergency Response Physical prior to employment and maintain certification by successfully completing the physical every three (3) years thereafter.
• Valid Standard First Aidcertification (or higher).
• Completion of required site-specific safety courses/certifications(e.g. CSTS H2S Alive Fall Protection Confined Space Entry and monitor).
• Ability to work in confined spaces at heights and in variable industrial conditions.
• Strong teamwork communication and situational awareness.

Preferred Qualifications

• Additional technical rescue disciplines meeting or exceeding NFPA 1006 operations standards (e.g. rope rescue confined space structural collapse trench rescue etc).
• Industrial emergency response experience on plants refineries utilities or construction sites.
• Additional medical or fire training.

Work Conditions

• Casual onâcall scheduling driven by site needs.
• Indoor and outdoor industrial environments.
• Day shifts and/or night shifts.
• Various shift cycles depending on project needs.
• Use of full PPE including harnesses and respiratory protection where required.

Ability to demonstrate to other company personnel as well as outside companies the proper techniques and guidelines used during a Technical Rope Rescue.

Interpersonal Communication: Verbal communication and interpersonal skills are used constantly. Must adapt to situations which may involve emotional instability and in multicultural settings. Shares opinions ideas and resources with others to achieve common goals.

Physical Demands

The role may involve occasional handling of heavy or awkward loads. Where reasonably practicable mechanical aids equipment or team assistance are used to lift lower push pull or carry such loads in accordance with the Occupational Health and Safety Code and organizational procedures.

In rare emergency situations the role may require assisting with the relocation of an individual over a short distance using approved emergency response techniques available equipment and training subject to hazard assessment. Must be able to occasionally lift and/or move items weighing up to 100 pounds with appropriate assistance. The role also requires the physical capability to safely and independently drag a patient weighing up to 150 pounds for a distance of up to 50 feet in accordance with established safety procedures and training.

Work Environment

Combination of office and field / production environments. Some exposure to wet and/or humid conditions and outside weather conditions. Travel to and from customer sites.

Reporting Relationships

Complexity of Duties and Decisions: Must be prepared to handle a variety of situations in changing environments. Follows all guidelines for the company pertaining to Technical Rescue i.e. Entry Rescue Rescue Team requirements Rescue Team Member requirements. Must remain calm while working in difficult and stressful situations and stay focused while carrying out the functions of the position.

Authority: Typically works independently and without direct supervision. Objectives priorities and deadlines are defined. Assistance is given with unusual situations that do not have clear objectives. Plans and carries out successive steps and resolves problems and deviations in accordance with instructions policies and accepted practices. No direct reports but provides technical guidance to less experienced staff. Frequently serves as a lead (assist with training monitoring and coaching).
