We are looking to add a
Health & Safety Coordinator to work onsite on one of our important ICI projects in North York!
The Health & Safety Coordinator provides leadership and hands-on expertise to ensure the highest standards of health and safety performance on a complex ICI construction project. This role works closely with Project Management, Site Superintendents, subcontractors, and client representatives to drive compliance with the Ontario Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA), Construction Projects Regulation, and project-specific requirements. The Coordinator plays a key role in mentoring site teams and promoting a proactive, safety-first culture across all trades.
Key Responsibilities- Lead, implement, and continuously improve the site-specific Health & Safety Program for a large or complex ICI construction project
- Ensure full compliance with OHSA, Construction Projects Regulation (O. Reg. 213/91), owner standards, and company policies
- Conduct and oversee comprehensive site safety inspections, hazard assessments, and field audits across multiple trades and high-risk activities
- Act as the primary point of contact for health & safety matters on site, including regulatory agencies and client safety representatives
- Lead incident, injury, and near-miss investigations, including root-cause analysis and corrective/preventive action plans
- Deliver and oversee safety orientations, toolbox talks, and advanced training related to ICI-specific hazards (e.g., confined spaces, energized systems, critical lifts, hot work, high-risk equipment)
- Mentor and guide junior safety staff, site supervisors, and subcontractors on safety best practices
- Review and approve safe work procedures, lift plans, permits, and risk assessments
- Coordinate emergency response planning, drills, and site preparedness
- Maintain and audit all safety documentation, records, and reporting systems
- Support WSIB claims management, return-to-work programs, and modified duty planning
Requirements
- Diploma or degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Construction Management, or a related field, or equivalent experience
- 5 - 8+ years of progressive health & safety experience on ICI construction projects
- Experience working on institutional or operational facilities (e.g., hospitals, schools, government, transit)
- Demonstrated leadership experience on large, multi-trade construction sites
- Advanced working knowledge of Ontario OHSA, Construction Projects Regulation, and ICI industry best practices
- Valid Working at Heights certification
- Strong incident investigation and hazard analysis experience
- Excellent communication, leadership, and stakeholder engagement skills
- Proficiency in safety reporting systems, audits, and compliance documentation
- CRSP, CHSO, NCSO, or equivalent professional certification, an asset

In accordance with applicable pay transparency legislation, EBC Inc. has included the expected salary range for this role, which is
$95,000 - $145,000. Compensation within the range is determined based on relevant experience, qualifications, localization, and internal equity. Base salary is one component of EBC’s comprehensive total rewards offering, which may include performance-based incentives, extended health and wellness benefits, retirement savings programs, and career development opportunities.
