We are looking for a highly dependable, afterschool-evening Nanny to look after a 4 and 7 year-old whose father passed from cancer 2 years ago. We have a very clean home with no outside visitors and practice social distancing and safe Covid-19 guidelines. The mother is a hard working university professor and requires dependable and loving presence inside the clean and organized home. The children are funny, smart, well adapted, occasionally stubborn (in a normal way), and well-loved by their family and community. The Nanny will create a safe, healthy, fun environment for our children through an understanding of child development, healthy habits, and close collaboration and respect with their mother. Beloved nanny (BN) will transport our children from school and to occasional afterschool activities (e.g., swimming or music lessons) and run occasional errands. BN will support a stable (but not rigid) schedule, including play, homework as required, dinner, snack and developmentally appropriate involvement in self-care and domestic chores. Daily meal preparation, lunch box preparation, and dinner and snack clean up are also essential tasks. Children and nanny will cooperate in keeping the home clean through putting away toys and respecting the home inside and out. To ensure success, we will provide access to your own personal vehicle (insurance responsibility of BN) and cell phone for local data and calls. Willingness to care for children overnight while mother on business trips, sick days, occasional babysitting outside regular hours, and knowledge of French or Francophone, are all assets. Preferred applicants truly like children, are organized and kind. Previous child care references are a must. This is a job for a career nanny; full-time students looking for part-time work need not apply. Nanny Responsibilities: • Picking up children from school. • Programming and supervising developmentally appropriate activities. • Preparing nutritious dinner meals. • Preparing lunches for next day • Light housework such as dinner dishesnd tidying toys (involve the kids • Maintaining children’s’ hygiene • Getting them ready for bed • Taking children to afterschool activities as required • Playing outside and inside with children • Supporting them in learning how to tidy away toys and clean up • Communicating with the mother by text or phone for outings or for changes in the regular routine • Giving children lunch and in-between snacks, encouraging them to assist with household chores, helping them with homework, and supervising them during play. • Transporting and collecting children to and from play dates and extramural activities. • Support bedtime routine, lights out at 7:30ish • Running errands as required. • Performing other mother helper and light home duties • Availability for sick days an asset • Cooperate with children’s mother on all of the above when she is inside the home Requirements: • High School Diploma, GED, or suitable equivalent. • 3 years child care experience with references. • Proficient knowledge of home safety and first aid. • Valid driver’s license, with clean driving record and proficient driving skills. • Proficient knowledge of housekeeping and meal preparation. • Outstanding early childhood communication skills. • Outstanding organizational and multitasking abilities. • Genuine care and concern for children. • Cooperates and communicates with mother • Able to solve problems and exercise judgement. • Able to balance child care and meal preparation and clean up demands within reason • Able to work efficiently and productively in the home • Sufficient physical abilities to play and manage young children.
