Metrolinx is connecting communities across the Greater Golden Horseshoe. Metrolinx operates GO Transit and UP Express, as well as the PRESTO fare payment system. Our Bus Fleet Maintenance Office is seeking a Supervisor, Bus Fleet Service Line to manage and coordinate repairs, cleaning, and maintenance operations within the Bus Services Division.
What will I be doing?
- Supervises and coordinates service, cleaning, and daily maintenance operations to maintain service vehicle availability and revenues.
- Supervises the proper recording of allotted labour and material resources for data input into the Vehicle Maintenance System (EAM).
- Conducts meetings with staff to advise and discuss safety, operational procedures, and new technologies.
- Monitors adherence to established policies, procedures, the Occupational Health and Safety Act, Ministry of the Environment regulations (MoE), and the Collective Agreement.
- Interprets and complies with Ministry of Transportation (MTO), Ministry of the Environment (MOE), and Ministry of Labour (MOL) legislated requirements, GO Transit Policy and Procedures, rules and regulations, and the Collective Agreement.
- Approves work completion and issuance of parts, equipment, and materials within the day-to-day cleaning and fueling of all Metrolinx vehicles.
- Conducting daily, weekly, monthly audits on cleaning standards, and employees process and procedures
- Supervises, monitors, and coordinates the work of assigned Bargaining Unit staff.
- Monitors staff performance in compliance with MTO’s legislated requirements; investigates employee complaints and manages grievances.
- Planning and scheduling of daily/weekly labour requirements to ensure proper staffing levels across facilities
- Updating of Payroll systems covering vacation times, sickness and other
- Onboarding and orientation of new employees
- Coordinates and implements semi annual/annual deep clean program and services
- Ability to cover various shifts and locations in a 24/7 operation
- Variety of additional tasks may be required depending on the requirements of the business and organization
- Liaising with bus facilities and shop management to address any equipment issues or safety hazards
- Completion of a high school diploma – or a combination of education, training and experience deemed equivalent.
- Minimum four (4) years of experience in delegating and prioritizing work orders preferably in a transit/trucking organization or in a unionized environment.
- A valid Ontario Class “G” driver’s licence and ability to meet the corporate standard for a good driving record is required.
- Must have the ability to obtain and maintain Ontario Class “C” driver’s licence and “Z” endorsement.
- Must successfully complete environmental, safety and any other training required by corporate policy.
- Knowledge of garage management practices, preventative maintenance theory, and pertinent Ministry of Transportation-Ontario, Ministry of Environment, and legislated Ministry of Labour requirements.
- Ability to supervise and organize the work output of several work units.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office word processing and spreadsheet applications, and data entry would be an asset.
- Interpersonal and oral/written/presentation communication skills to establish effective working relationships.
- Working knowledge of shop Standard operating processes including WHMIS and related JHSC rules and regulations.
- Valid CZ drivers’ license would be an asset.
- Any other accreditation in the automotive industry would be an asset.
Shift/Location
Note:
Shifts will be determined based on operational needs and may involve working variable shift/hours. Occasional travel will be required throughout the Metrolinx network across the GTHA.
