Our client is a leading organization in the industrial pipe, valve, fitting, and fire protection distribution industry is seeking an experienced Branch Manager for its Nanaimo, BC location.
The Branch Manager is responsible for organizing, directing, controlling, and evaluating all branch operations while maximizing sales performance and customer satisfaction across Nanaimo and surrounding areas. This role focuses on sales growth, team leadership, inventory control, customer relations, and operational excellence in alignment with company policies and procedures.
Location: Nanaimo, BC
Pay: CA$87,000.00-CA$90,000.00 per year
Key Responsibilities
- Manage overall branch operations, performance, and profitability
- Receive and process customer sales orders via phone, email, fax, walk-in, and sales representatives
- Provide technical product knowledge, quotations, and order coordination
- Resolve customer issues and recommend corrective or alternative solutions
- Develop and manage annual budgets, sales forecasts, and performance targets
- Collaborate with outside sales, accounting, materials control, and warehouse teams
- Monitor inventory levels, conduct physical inventories, and generate reports
- Drive sales growth through proactive selling, upselling, and customer outreach
- Recruit, onboard, train, and manage branch staff, including performance and wage reviews
- Maintain strong relationships with key customers and supplier partners
- Ensure compliance with Health & Safety programs and legislative requirements
- Participate in trade shows, special sales events, and training initiatives
- Prepare operational, sales, and inventory reports as required
- Perform additional administrative, reception, and operational duties as needed
Qualifications
- College diploma in Sales, Marketing, Business Administration, or related field (or equivalent experience)
- 5–8 years of experience in inside sales or customer service with pricing and costing knowledge
- Minimum 3 years of managerial or supervisory experience
- Background in fire protection, plumbing & heating, or industrial pipe and fittings preferred
- Strong business development and customer relationship management skills
- Mechanical aptitude; ability to read blueprints is an asset
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and problem-solving skills
- Strong analytical and mathematical abilities
- Proven leadership skills with the ability to motivate and develop teams
- Intermediate computer proficiency (Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, web-based systems)
- Highly organized, self-motivated, and results-driven
- Ability to handle confidential information with discretion
