Job Description

This role focuses on operating coordinate measuring machines (CMMs) to accurately inspect manufactured parts and components, ensuring they meet required specifications and quality standards. You will perform measurements, support in-process inspections, and promptly document and report any abnormalities to maintain a high level of quality control within a machine shop environment.

Responsibilities

• Operate 1–2 CMM machines to measure manufactured parts and components with precision and consistency.
• Perform detailed inspections using CMM equipment to verify dimensions and tolerances against engineering drawings and specifications.
• Document all inspection results clearly and accurately, maintaining organized records for quality control and traceability.
• Identify, document, and report any abnormalities or nonconformances as soon as they are recognized.
• Support in-process inspections to ensure parts meet quality standards throughout the manufacturing process.
• Collaborate with production and quality teams to address measurement issues and support continuous improvement in inspection processes.
• Follow established quality control procedures and safety guidelines while working in the machine shop environment.
• Assist with basic troubleshooting of CMM equipment and communicate any equipment issues to the appropriate personnel.

Essential Skills

• 2+ years of CMM operating experience OR post-secondary education related to CMM.
• Hands-on experience with CMM operation in a machine shop environment.
• Practical understanding of GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing).
• Experience with quality control and inspection processes for manufactured parts and components.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications.
• Attention to detail and accuracy when performing measurements and documenting results.
• Strong communication skills to clearly report abnormalities and inspection findings.
• Willingness to work day shift during training and transition to afternoon or weekend shifts as required.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience with CMM programming is an asset.
• Experience with Calypso CMM software is an asset.
• Experience with PC-DMIS CMM software is an asset.
• Previous experience performing inspections in a machine shop layout.
• Familiarity with general quality control tools and methods.
• Post-secondary education in a related technical field is considered an advantage.

Work Environment

You will work across up to three facilities located within approximately 2 kilometers of each other, all featuring a machine shop layout that is clean, bright, and well-maintained. The role involves operating CMM machines and using inspection and quality control tools in a production environment. Training will take place on a day shift, and once training is complete, you must be open to working afternoon shifts or weekend shifts (Friday, Saturday, Sunday), depending on operational needs. The environment emphasizes precision, safety, and adherence to quality standards while providing a professional and organized workspace.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Vaughan, ON.

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $30.00/hr.
