Job Title: Spot Welder – Afternoon ShiftJob DescriptionThe Spot Welder performs resistance spot welding on metal components according to drawings and specifications on an afternoon shift production line. This role sets up and operates spot-welding equipment, prepares and assembles parts, and ensures that all welded joints meet strength, accuracy, and appearance standards. The position supports safe, efficient production by maintaining a clean work area, assisting with material handling, and contributing to continuous improvement efforts.
Responsibilities
- Perform resistance spot welding on metal components in accordance with drawings, specifications, and work orders.
- Read and interpret blueprints, fabrication drawings, templates, and work orders to determine welding requirements.
- Set up, adjust, and operate spot-welding machines, including selecting and maintaining proper heat, pressure, and timing settings.
- Inspect welded joints for strength, accuracy, and visual appearance, and make adjustments to the process as needed.
- Assemble parts, reinforcements, brackets, and hardware, and prepare components prior to welding.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area in compliance with workplace safety guidelines.
- Identify basic equipment issues and promptly report them to maintenance or supervision.
- Assist with material handling, including bundling, tagging, and staging of finished products.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives focused on quality, efficiency, and workflow on the production line.
- Work collaboratively with other team members on the line to complete work from start to finish.
Essential Skills- At least 1.5 years of welding or metal-fabrication experience, with spot welding preferred.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and fabrication documents.
- Familiarity with steel fabrication or related production processes.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and stand for extended periods during the shift.
- Basic math and measurement skills for accurate setup and quality checks.
Additional Skills & Qualifications- Experience in a production or manufacturing environment.
- Comfort working with resistance spot-welding equipment and hand tools.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality welds.
- Willingness to follow standardized work instructions and safety procedures.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a small production line team.

Work Environment
The role is based on an afternoon shift from 3:30 . to midnight in a production facility. The spot welding line typically consists of four people plus a lead hand, and the operator is responsible for the line from start to finish. On the afternoon shift, there are approximately 35 people on the floor, contributing to a mid-sized, collaborative environment, while the day shift has around 80 people. The work involves operating spot-welding machines, handling steel components, and performing manual tasks that require standing for extended periods and lifting up to 50 pounds. The facility operates as a structured production floor with an emphasis on safety, organization, and teamwork, and appropriate work boots and attire are expected for an industrial setting.
