Senior Vice President, Human Resources , the
Senior Human Resources Business Partner (Sr. HRBP)
plays a critical role in shaping and executing people strategies that support both our operational and corporate teams.
This role supports
both hourly and salaried employee populations
within a dynamic research environment, requiring deep expertise in
Canadian labour legislation, employee relations, and workplace practices .
As a senior advisor to business leaders, you will bring a strong balance of
strategic influence and hands‑on execution , partnering closely with leaders to drive organizational effectiveness, enhance employee engagement, and ensure compliance with all applicable labour standards.

What You’ll Be Doing Strategic Business Partnership
Act as a trusted advisor to leaders, aligning HR strategies with business priorities
Provide guidance on organizational design, workforce planning, and talent strategy
Support leaders in driving performance, engagement, and team effectiveness
Employee & Labour Relations
Lead and manage complex employee relations matters across hourly and salaried populations
Provide expert guidance on Canadian employment legislation, labour standards, and HR best practices
Support investigations, conflict resolution, and progressive discipline processes
Partner with leaders to ensure fair, consistent, and legally compliant decision‑making
HR Program Delivery & Execution
Lead end‑to‑end delivery of core HR programs, including Performance Management
Compensation and salary planning
Talent reviews and succession planning
Tailor corporate programs to meet the needs of the Canadian research workforce
Organizational Development
Drive initiatives that enhance organizational effectiveness and employee experience
Support change management efforts tied to business evolution and growth
Contribute to the development of leadership capability and team performance
Employee Experience & Engagement
Champion initiatives that enhance inclusion, engagement, and culture
Support onboarding, engagement surveys, and action planning
Partner with leaders to create meaningful employee experiences
Data, Insights & Reporting
Leverage HR data to provide actionable insights to business leaders
Analyze trends across turnover, performance, engagement, and workforce planning
Identify risks and opportunities, recommending solutions grounded in data
Operational Excellence
Ensure accuracy, consistency, and attention to detail across all HR processes
Maintain compliance with employment standards and internal policies
Continuously improve HR processes to increase efficiency and effectiveness

Qualifications & Experience
6–10+ years of progressive HR experience, including Business Partner roles
Strong experience supporting employee relations and labour practices in Canada
Demonstrated experience working with both hourly and salaried employee groups
Experience in a research, professional services, or similar knowledge‑based environment is an asset
Post‑secondary degree in Human Resources, Business, or related field
CHRP/CHRL designation considered an asset
Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel and PowerPoint)
Experience working with HR data and reporting tools
Fluency in French not necessary, but would be an asset

Estimated base salary: $90,000 to $110,000 CAD
