Position Scope:

This role builds and sustains strong partnerships with service providers, regulatory bodies, and key stakeholders to advance safe, ethical, and high-quality care, while collaborating closely with partners to implement and evaluate clinical standards and programs. The Consultant also designs and delivers education, resources, and training opportunities that strengthen staff competencies, support knowledge translation, and effectively bridge theory to practice in everyday clinical care.

Key Responsibilities:

Evidence-Based Clinical Program Development:
Collaborate with the long-term care (LTC) sector to plan, develop, implement, and evaluate clinical programs aligned with evidence-based standards and best practices.

Stakeholder Engagement & Collaboration:
Build and maintain strong partnerships with LTC service providers, regulatory bodies, and key stakeholders to support the advancement of quality clinical practices.

Education & Resource Development:
Design and develop practical tools and resources to support competency development across the sector, including training modules, workshops, and educational materials.

Knowledge Translation (Theory to Practice):
Bridge the gap between theory and practice by supporting Continuing Care staff in applying evidence-based knowledge to daily clinical care.

Continuous Learning & Professional Development:
Promote a culture of ongoing learning by providing opportunities for skill development, knowledge transfer, and professional growth among client and resident care staff.

Program Implementation & Evaluation:
Deliver education sessions, workshops, and learning initiatives, and evaluate their effectiveness to ensure continuous improvement and impact.

Documentation & Reporting:
Document learning activities, outcomes, and program impacts to track progress and inform future planning and enhancements.

Clinical Competency Support:
Strengthen and sustain clinical competencies by providing education, reinforcing organizational standards, and supporting adherence to evidence-based practices.

Requirements and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (or equivalent accredited nursing education) and current or eligible registration with the Nova Scotia College of Nursing.
  • Minimum two years of relevant clinical and education experience, ideally in home/community care or long-term care.
  • Adult education, Clinical Nurse Educator, or Nursing Instructor experience is considered an asset; advanced education in adult learning is preferred.
  • Strong communication, facilitation, relationship-building, and project leadership skills, with sound judgment and independent decision-making.
  • Demonstrated commitment to equity, diversity, inclusion, and evidence-informed practice.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Canva, internet-based tools, learning management systems, and virtual learning platforms.
  • Travel to different areas of the province will at times be required.

What We Offer:

We offer a Competitive Compensation Package that includes:

  • Comprehensive Health and Dental Benefits: Enjoy a robust cost-shared health and dental program to keep you and your family well-covered.

Application Process:

Applications will be accepted until: June 12, 2026
