We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Inventory Clerk / Purchaser to support our operations in Peterborough. This position is responsible for managing inventory, supporting procurement processes, and ensuring the timely availability of materials and services required to support our renewable energy assets.
This role plays a critical part in maintaining efficient operations through accurate inventory control, supplier coordination, and purchasing support. Reporting to the Plant Manager - Senvion Fleet, this position oversees all aspects of purchasing, inventory control, and work order administration across our renewable assets. This is a newly created role located at our Peterborough site.
Key Responsibilities will include, but will not be limited to:
- Collaborate with plant managers and technical teams to resolve operational issues related to inventory and purchase orders, ensuring work orders accurately reflect inventory usage.
- Manage procurement activities, including reviewing requisitions, creating and issuing purchase orders, sourcing vendors, and identifying cost-saving opportunities in compliance with company policies.
- Support accounts payable processes by assisting with invoice handling, three-way matching, and resolving discrepancies or escalations.
- Maintain clear and timely communication with vendors and internal stakeholders, providing updates on order status, confirmations, and delivery timelines.
- Monitor inventory levels, reorder points, and conduct regular counts to ensure accuracy. Maintain tracking systems and generate reports related to open orders and delivery performance.
- Oversee order and logistics activities, including modifying purchase orders, receiving goods, and coordinating shipping, freight, customs, and brokerage processes.
- Provide administrative and system support, including maintaining records and supporting maintenance management systems, while offering backup support to team members as required.
- This role may include additional responsibilities as required to support business needs.
Qualifications & Experience
- 1–3 years of experience in inventory control, purchasing, or a related role
- Post-secondary education in business, supply chain, or a related field is an asset
- Experience with inventory or procurement systems (e.g., ERP/CMMS) preferred
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook)
Knowledge and Skill Requirements
- Valid driver’s license.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in computer applications, with advanced skills in Microsoft Excel.
Working Conditions
This role involves a combination of office and warehouse environments, with occasional outdoor tasks depending on operational needs. Extended hours, including evenings, early mornings, and weekends, may be required from time to time to support business operations.
