3–6 Year Civil Litigation Associate
Who are You?
You are a strong litigator with solid experience, excellent judgment, and writing skills that make people stop and say, “who drafted this?” (In a good way.)
You are organized, thoughtful, responsive, and genuinely enjoy the practice of litigation. You know your way around the Rules, litigation software, and the realities of running files.
You are looking for meaningful work, sophisticated clients, and colleagues who are smart, collaborative, and invested in your growth. You want the opportunity to both run your own matters and work closely with senior counsel on complex files that sharpen your instincts and expand your practice.
You can work autonomously, but you also know the best litigation teams talk to each other, support each other, and occasionally laugh with each other.
You are entrepreneurial and interested in building a practice, a reputation, and long-term relationships.
You take initiative. You contribute. You care about the work product and the people behind it.
You have:
- a law degree from a recognized institution;
- 3–6 years of civil litigation experience;
- strong drafting and advocacy skills;
- experience managing files and client relationships; and
- a demonstrated interest in professional development, business development, and contributing to the legal community.
A sense of humour is not mandatory, but it does tend to help around here.
Who are We?
We are a growing mid-sized full-service law firm in downtown Toronto with a busy and diverse litigation practice. Our lawyers work across commercial litigation, estates litigation, employment matters, insurance defence, and regulatory and professional disputes, among other areas.
We are building for the long term and are looking for lawyers who are too.
Our litigators work closely together. Associates are given meaningful responsibility, direct client exposure, and the opportunity to develop both technically and strategically. We believe excellent lawyers are developed through mentorship, collaboration, trust, and being given room to grow.
We encourage and reward initiative, file generation, networking, and client development. We also care deeply about creating a thoughtful and respectful work environment — one where people enjoy working together, support each other’s success, and take pride in the quality of the work we do.
We have high expectations. We also invest in our people.
What Else?
We offer:
- competitive compensation and benefits;
- a hybrid work environment, with an emphasis on in-person collaboration and relationship building;
- a largely paperless practice; and
- continued investment in technology and systems that improve both our practice and client experience.
- software platforms include NetDocs, ACL, and Acumin.
If this sounds like the kind of place where you would do your best work, we would love to hear from you.
Our salary range is $120,000 to $140,000 plus profit share.
