Job descriptionThe Manager, Strategy and Transformation will drive the performance of transformational and strategic initiatives supporting Seaspan Victoria Shipyards' strategic goals. The role reports directly to VSL's Vice President and General Manager and is a member of Victoria Shipyards' Senior Leadership Team. The manager will lead and manage VSL's transformational and strategic initiatives, adopting best practices in change management, technology implementations, and communications. Focus areas include workforce development, facility development/enhancement, business growth, and production efficiency initiatives. The role requires the ability to work effectively in a matrix organization and lead through influence.

Due to business needs, this position is required to be fully on‑site at 825 Admirals Road, Victoria.
What You’ll Do
Lead and be accountable for VSL's transformation and strategic initiatives.
Develop and present VSL's strategic and business planning processes, from identification, initial evaluation, prioritization to submission, approval and completion.
Lead and develop competitive market analysis, internal review of SWOT, and prioritization of opportunities.
Collaborate with VSL and Seaspan colleagues to develop and coordinate schedules, plans, performance requirements and budget assumptions for all VSL initiatives.
Design, evaluate and implement awareness programs related to changes in the market, customer and external environments, and provide timely recommendations to maximize opportunities or mitigate potential impacts.
Integrate, analyze and propose best‑practice business plans to achieve specified organizational growth and profitability targets.
Develop, apply and consistently evaluate processes for tracking initiatives as they progress and complete, including measuring success such as KPIs.
Maintain a constant communication program of the initiatives with business senior and executive leadership.
What You’ll Bring
5+ years of ship repair or maritime experience (preferred, but other heavy‑industry experience will be considered).
Master's degree in technology, business administration, or a related field (preferred; a combination of education and experience will be considered).
Project Management and business transformation experience.
Strategic and tactical leadership in technical strategy and opportunity capture.
Multi‑faceted leadership skills applicable to direct leadership roles and influential (indirect) leadership roles.
Ability to work in a highly flexible and fluid environment while maintaining calm and rational thinking.
Demonstrated ability to connect with a variety of team members and respond to stakeholder needs tactfully.
Exceptional interpersonal skills and outstanding oral and written capabilities, including building professional relationships with various levels within the organization.
Advocacy and persuasion skills; ability to influence others based on compelling logic or best interests.
Solid understanding and expertise with Microsoft Office (PowerPoint, Word, Project and Excel).
Self‑starter with good organizational skills, able to work both independently and as a member of a team.

Estimated salary: $156,600 - $191,400. The final base salary will be determined at the company's discretion based on qualifications and internal equity.
Compliance: This position may involve defense articles and/or technical data regulated by the U.S. International Traffic in Arms Regulations (“ITAR”) and the U.S. Arms Export Control Act. In compliance with ITAR, the successful candidate will be subject to a security clearance through the Canadian Controlled Goods Program and required to maintain clearance throughout employment.
