Product Manager (Startup) Location: Toronto, Ontario (hybrid, 1–2 days/week onsite)
Compensation: CAD $140,000–$180,000 base, plus equity
Experience: 5–7 years in product management
Company Summary Our client is a well-funded, seed-stage HR technology company building enterprise software for corporate alumni management, helping organizations stay connected with former employees and match them back to open roles. Backed by tier-1 investors and led by repeat founders with a track record of building and selling successful companies, we have strong early traction with dozens of enterprise clients already onboarded and a deep pipeline. This is a rare ground-floor opportunity to join as one of the first twenty hires and shape both the product and the culture.
Position Summary As Product Manager, you will own the core platform end to end, from discovery through delivery, working closely with design, engineering, and go-to-market teams. You will own the product vision, deciding what to build and why, making the trade-offs, and turning ambiguity into shipped product during a pivotal growth phase. This role suits a true self-starter who thrives with minimal hand-holding and wants to step into real leadership.
What You'll Do - Own the product vision for the core platform, deciding what problems are worth solving and why.
- Own the end-to-end product development lifecycle, from discovery through delivery, in partnership with design and engineering.
- Manage risk, navigate trade-offs, and make informed calls balancing user needs, business goals, and technical constraints.
- Gather and synthesize user feedback and product data to surface opportunities and guide iteration.
- Run experiments to improve engagement, retention, and overall product value.
- Run agile ceremonies (sprint planning, standups, retros, backlog grooming) and act as the central point of product coordination across teams.
What We're Looking For - Has owned the product vision for at least one product, deciding what to build and why, not just managing delivery, process, or supporting functions.
- Has built a product from the ground up (0-to-1) in a startup or early-stage environment, with a self-starter style that thrives with little hand-holding.
- 5–7 years defining, launching, and growing new products at a software or technology company.
- Strong leadership and the ability to motivate and align cross-functional teams.
- Excellent communication, comfortable presenting to senior stakeholders and the board.
- Solid grasp of scrum and agile, adaptable to the needs of a fast-moving team, with strong problem-solving and comfort in ambiguity.
- Bonus: SQL, product analytics, and experience building BI dashboards.
How We Work We are not a 9-to-5 company. We move fast, own our outcomes, and go the extra mile when the work demands it, while trusting each other to manage our own time. Our culture is grounded in trust, accountability, healthy debate, and a growth mindset. Note: the interview process includes a take-home case study and a live presentation, so candidates should be ready to commit to that before moving forward.
