As a member of the Commercial Services team within the Business Banking Group, this role will work with our members and the business community to provide real‑estate financing, deposit and banking solutions. The Director, Commercial Services is responsible for leading a team of Account Managers and supporting FirstOntario Credit Union's strategic goals by achieving sales targets in commercial real‑estate loans/mortgages, deposits, and fees with the objective of driving business while mitigating risk. As a key member of the Commercial Services team, this role is an important lead in the revenue and budget management of their direct team and ultimately the department. Role
Provide leadership and guidance to Account Managers in executing and managing member relationships, including delivery of credit and deposit/cash management services Be responsible for new loan origination and the oversight of underwriting and relationship management of commercial loans within your direct portfolio and your team's portfolios Identify areas of opportunity in a timely manner and develop and implement action plans to close any gaps to meet sales targets Lead and oversee the sourcing, credit write‑up, adjudication and review of Commercial credit files, while ensuring risk mitigating strategies are implemented Support your team and colleagues to diligently complete detailed annual commercial reviews through breakdown and analysis of financial statements and recommendations to mitigate any new or changing risks Make solid credit recommendations to supporting departments such as the Credit Department, Management Credit Committee and occasionally to the Board Drive your team to over deliver on set targets and planned initiatives for your region in commercial offerings including but not limited to loan and deposit business Understand changing market conditions and remain knowledgeable of relevant industry issues Regularly coach and provide feedback to Account Management team members to enable them to have confidence in what they do, help them grow and drive to excel Strategic partner to the group leadership team on the management of the portfolio and unit profitability and accountability, with deep industry, external / internal, enterprise knowledge, recognizing and anticipating emerging trends and identifying operational efficiencies and opportunities with other business management / enterprise areas Actively participate in special business events to raise visibility and present FirstOntario as the financial institution of choice Build and utilize working relationships with internal business partners across the organization and external contacts/COIs Actively participate in community events as part of FirstOntario's overall commitment to Corporate Social Responsibility Consider health & safety as a primary concern to ensure the overall well‑being of your team and members Perform other duties we may need you to do Required Skills
Have a sound business acumen which you built from the ground up with a post‑secondary diploma or degree in business or finance related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience Have 10+ years of Sales and Relationship Management experience in Commercial Lending, Corporate Account Management and/or credit adjudication Have 7+ years of experience in Commercial Real Estate underwriting; Development and Construction underwriting considered an asset Demonstrate your sales management skills in setting and monitoring sales targets, plans, pipelines and activities Demonstrate your sales/business development experience in the Commercial industry Be quick to respond to requests for service from all of your clients and team members Be aware of and mitigate enterprise risk factors and ensure compliance with applicable regulations, legislation and FirstOntario policies and procedures Be extremely comfortable using a computer particularly MS Office, Word and Excel Be willing to work flexible hours to accommodate business need, networking and community involvement Travel throughout the region to support our membership and help make their financial dreams come true This role is hybrid in Hamilton, ON. Salary Range: $108,691 to $149,450 annually. Compensation for this role reflects a combination of skills, experience, and internal equity. Those whose experience more closely aligns the role's requirements may be placed higher within the salary range.
