Role Description

Reporting to the Manager of Systems Engineering, the Systems Engineer plays a critical role across the full lifecycle of complex system development, from initial requirements definition through integration, testing, and final delivery. This position is responsible for developing system architectures, managing requirements and interface documentation, and leading verification and validation activities.
The Systems Engineer works cross-functionally with multidisciplinary teams spanning mechanical, electrical, software, and acoustics engineering to ensure seamless integration of complex systems. The role also supports field operations, including system testing and sea trials, ensuring performance and reliability in real-world conditions.

Your responsibilities will include:
- Develop and manage system requirements, including creation and maintenance of Verification Cross-Reference Matrices (VCRMs).
- Define system architectures and prepare Interface Control Documents (ICDs) across mechanical, electrical, controls, and software domains.
- Lead and coordinate system integration, testing, verification, and commissioning activities.
- Plan and execute functional and environmental testing programs and support customer verification processes.
- Oversee requirements management across complex, multidisciplinary system projects.
- Establish and validate system interfaces, ensuring proper integration with external systems.
- Support field activities, including sea trials and system deployment.
- Contribute to product development roadmaps, research initiatives, and innovation activities.
- Assist business development efforts through technical input to proposals and documentation.
- Support safe system design through hazard identification and development of safety requirements.
Your Qualifications: The ideal candidate is a proactive and analytical engineering professional with strong systems thinking abilities and experience working with complex, integrated technologies. Your qualifications should include:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Computer Science.
- Minimum of 5 years of professional engineering or computer science experience.
- Experience in system architecture development, requirements management, and verification activities.
- Experience working with complex systems involving electrical, mechanical, and software integration.
- Experience in marine, defence, or aerospace sectors is considered an asset.
- Familiarity with military standards is considered an asset.
- Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation is considered an asset.
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to identify challenges and implement solutions.
- Demonstrated ability to effectively collaborate with diverse stakeholders across all levels of an organization.
- Excellent organizational, communication, and prioritization abilities.
- Demonstrated initiative, attention to detail, and commitment to continuous learning.
- Eligible to apply for and maintain Canadian Controlled Goods and Canadian Government Security Clearances.
